Bismarck Class Battleships
So reading Wikipedia the other day, the plans for both the Bismarck and Tirpitz were laid down in 1935 and the actually ships entered production July of 1936. Wouldn't it be more accurate if HOI4 had this class ready to go for Germany and perhaps even already laid down in production (would definitely help German AI as I love playing UK and Navy).

Bismarck was laid down on 1 July 1936, Tirpitz on 20 October 1936 so no… it would not be more accurate if either of those was in production in January of the same year.

Also, keep in mind that the “planning” phase of a ship construction IRL is a lot more intensive than it is shown in the game. You don’t just decide to slap another turret on the hull and use “naval xp” to make it work.
Under the best circumstances it would take months to complete all the calculations required and checking them again and again; particularly in an age where computer did not exist. Just because something was planned for doesn’t mean it should enter production.

Planning was wrapped up in 1935. Between the two dates, they were negotiating which shipyard would make it. So at the very least, it should be in the plans at the start. The reason I want it in production is AI Germany because AI sucks at building new ships for some reason. You never see AI Germany make Bismarck or Tirpitz which lessens Germany's threat to UK (the lack of a U-Boat threat from AI Germany is also an issue).

As the others have said they weren't being laid down yet but the plans were complete. Personally I would love to see the german get a navy rehaul where they get options like the Italians or Soviets where if you go down that tree it automatically designs a Bismarck Variant and lays down 2 versions for you. But that would require a rehaul of germany which isnt coming sadly despite how dated that tree is at this point.

What I want is AI Germany to be just programmed better. Granted HOI4 navy just sucks as a whole. Most human players as Germany would just spam Naval Bombers and Submarines because the game has no concept on Navy and frankly it would be difficult for HOI4 to do navy right in Real-Time. Navy tends to be more impactful and tactical in a turn-based game like Axis and Allies.

Another fun update would be to go back to having the actual historical designs of ships come with each tech upgrade and to have you only design ships for fun. For example when you research 1936 hull design, automatically have Bismarck populate for Germany or King George V populate for UK.

Operation Sealion is very easy in HOI4 for example. One thought is that I think if the enemy has naval superiority, your supply should be trash. It is too easy for convoys to get through.

EU4 seemed to land it better. I was playing an MP game with a Dutch player (I am Prussia) and we wanted to invade England as his PU mission. It was really damn tough because AI used its navy well to ambush us even though we had naval superiority and they position their armies to attack when we land.

Why can't we have that level of AI cleverness with UK in HOI4?

True… The landing should be easy, but those troops should die out because they would not get supply!
British navy would have easily cut down the German supply line. The only option would sink most british navy and that is not a easy task.
I know the game works like it work, because it tryes to be more fun. And yeah… not making sea invasion succesfully would kill fun out of most players.
HOI4 is sandbox economy simulator with battle to make it more fun. And that is ok. But we should not expect it to be realistic!

In reality German need… Super high air superiority to protect the convoys or sink the british navy with naval bombers or superiority naval forces. In game, you need split second of naval supremasy and you are good to go.
