Theoretically they could, during a war, arrange for the bulgarian troops to be surrounded and overrun with no supplies.
Seems a bit of an oversight from paradox. To have this not covered somewhere in the code. Its weird.
This may sound stupid and right now I'm at work but can you rename them as in their template and then tried deleting them?
nope cant edit anything on them. No name change ect.. Just not allowed like they are stille expeditionary. I know what happened. They are expeditionary and their original country just doesnt exist anymore. Because i annexed it. So they in limbo right now. still can use them as normal units. But they also dont get equipment reinforcment ect. So they will just die out in combat.
If you're willing to use the console a bit you could release the country, tag over to them to request the expedition back, tag back to your original country and wait a few days, then check if the armies are gone and if yes then annex the country back again.
You can core the balkans as the ottomans. Getting you access to all the resources and the factories. Also. Supply isnt an issue. Since i invest in a healthy railway line with supply depots and ports.
I also think the balkans have some good strategic lines with mountains and stuff. Where i can stop germany and the soviets from attacking. Just some landforts on mountains and boom. They are not getting in.
