Personnaly I learned by playing with Germany and invading everyone around me just to see how the game react.

RT56 is IMO much better than the base game because many countries have much more interresting focus trees, you have more stuff in the settings, more techs, one more land doctrine, more planes and probably other stuffs I don't remember.

And also, I found it pretty balanced because many countries will be more powerfull due to a better industry from their focus tree so harder to kill while I found the major countries to be too easy to invade in vanilla.

is a good idea to change the mod focus trees from the dlcs into the mod ones?

You can just launch the mod so you will be able to change individually for each country with a focus that came from a DLC.

Personnaly I do prefer the focus trees from the mod for many reasons :

Focus trees have better designs in a sense that they are shorter so more interresting to play instead of waiting for endless focus trees from DLCs to finish.

Many countries won't break free from their master for no reasons which happens quite a lot with focus trees from DLCs

They are more oriented on invasions and more factories instead of wasting time with a lot of mini interresting political highly scripted games.

I can found more reasons but that's also a question of tastes I guess. Personally, I prefer by far the general orientation of RT56 than the DLCs. But you will have to play quit a lot before to make your own choices

Play vanilla. When updates (happen all the time) and DLCs come out, they will frequently break your game you are currently playing. As important, a crap ton of changes to vanilla are never incorporated into mods, especially the older mods like RT56. They modders update the mods to make them playeable with the changes, but there are so many other changes that modders cannot possibly keep pace with.
In summary, master vanilla as Germany. Then play around with the best mods. RT56 is one of the best, as is Old World Blues, and Equestria.

just learn vanilla, rt56 is basically identical to vanilla except some countries have different focus trees.
