I just plonk down enough of them in the template to go 20 width, mostly out of habit then give them all the support companies i can spare.
You can just paratroop infantry and then theres nothing much in the terms of tactics you can really do with them, just assist encirclement or take ports. Theres really not any room for experimenting.

For holding an airbase really u want them to have as much org and health as possible so 50 width max.
