First, game is not released and there is no real indication of gameplay time besides devs gameplays and it is hard to extrapolate anything out of those videos.
Second - it depends on player. You can let AI make all the decisions besides few arrows on the map and it will be pretty fast, faster then EU. Or you can control everything ,on the division level, and it will take long time - longer then average EU4 playthrough.

Of course, if you're pausing or going down to speed 1, that could be longer.
As for the how much time you can expect out of HoI 4? Hard to say, I have played HoI 3 for 600 hours and still havent managed to get all of it. On an average I would say this game can keep you occupied for about 200 hours+.
You are correct. It runs by 1 tick=1 hour, just like HoI3.
You are correct. There is the 'end date' from what I understand, but it is a soft date. Beyond that you may continue as long as you'd like. Characters will NOT die of old age, so it doesn't make perfect sense but if you really wanted to play for 1000 years, you're welcome to it. No characters dying in battle either.
Each playthrough will be variable, so a viable estimate isn't really possible. Your are right, the game is deep and will provide a lot of play for people. Especially since they've opened up the option to make the playthrough your own. i.e. player factions, changing government type, historical drive or not (for AI) etc.
The limits to the amount of play will really come to the player and their willingness to try different things. How many times do you want to re-enact the exact same thing? Or are you open to playing as random nations and doing completely different things each time? That's going to be the defining factor of how much each player gets out of this game.
