Moving units by sea - ON PURPOSE!!
ok first of NO i understand how to invade via sea - thanks tho. MY issue is how to FORCE units to travel form one port to another rather than take the land route.....saaaay the land route right THROUGH FAAAACKIN RUSSIA - U IDIOTS!!! NOOOOOO everyone dies and my boys in stalingrad get cooked....history repeats its self. But seriously can I somehow force my units to do the SMART thing? There is the work arround with shippin them to some random Island and than go fomr there BUT with some nations the areas of sea that u controll enough to be sending troops arround willy nilly is ....lets say limited. Anyway IF anyone figured this one out I be super stoked since appart from few nitpicks this is the only thing that bothers me about the game....still best game fo 2016 but I NEED TO WAR SMARTER!

I'm a newb, so don't really count on me for good answers. But I have to ask. You are saying you know how to do naval invasions. But are you totally clear on how to do normal naval travel? As far as I know, you start in a province with a port in it. Then you right click on the closest available/unrestricted port to the province you want to get to. The key point is that the destination port needs to be in an area available to you (under your control or maybe of an ally's). You can't travel by sea to a destination port that is occupied by your enemy. Also not sure, but I think available ports icons are blue, while the rest are white.

Just click on the port symbol you want to travel too? Also make sure those units are in a region where there's a port.

Did you check the travel rights through the Suez? You probably didn't have acces through the canal.

hmm i can right click a port when i got units slectedand they will ALWAYS try to travel their by land only if that is not possible will they take the boat. as for usieng the invasion tool...sure i can do that BUT than the invsion counter starts meaning it takes weeks to get their. if u simply sent troops to an island from a port ull see that it happens instantely ie if your on the run or in a hurry....besides why should there be huge invasion prep for moving me dood between my habours?.....ill keep tinkering with ti.somehow i feel im misunderstanding what u trying to tell me but all good

ok i read what u said again and turns out if u mouse over the NAVAL base itself the courser changes ever so slightly and all of a sudden people jump in the boat. Thanks for nudging me in the right direction now illbe able to achieve world domination by 1940 J/K :D

to fully explain it for other people if the courses is JUST the hand than your ar infact on the navalbase and they will travel if the courser is the hand AND the arrow they will run/walk/crawl/get nuked

If there is a possible way to get there over land, the system will always choose that if you simply right click on the destination province. If you want to force it to go by sea, you must click directly on the port symbol in the destination province.

Use the shift key to give multiple orders at once:
So click on a naval province -> shift-click on which you port you want them -> shift-click where you want them next.
