System requirements
I don't meet the minimum system requirements for a cpu as I have a 2.3 ghz quad core processor or for my gpu as it only has 512 mb of vram
I do have 6 gb of ram
Would it still be possible to run the game on low settings on a lower speed?

I assume it would be similar for not meeting system requirements in other paradox games
Are games like eu4 still playable if you don't meet the requirements by a similar degree?

How bad would it be? I just realized stellaris had the same system requirements so I posted a discussion there.

Bad enough you'll have to set everything on low including your resolution. Probably down to 720p or lower.

I could play at a low speed without too much issue though right?

No guarantee. Even on low, you can still end up with very low frame rates(FPS) or simply unable to play the game.

Dissapointing, I'll see any info from other players of release
Would be nice if there was a demo

That is, if you're lucky to find anybody with the same specs as you. Most people who will be playing Hearts of Iron 4 are most likely to be above or at minimum requirements.

I always had the feeling that paradox is just guessing when they announce system requirements. They never make much sense. Stellaris only utilizes one core and still the requirements demand more then one... As far as we know the .exe will be 32bit but the requirements demand a 64bit syste...

A demo wouldn't help much because the bottleneck will be either you cpu or your RAM and you will only see the effect years into the war when the number of units and countries is at its maximum.

It's always been like that. Guesswork. When they annouce the specs, they guess it. You can have one hell of a beast of a computer and still not be able to run a very demanding game, or run it way better than expected. It always falls down to optimization. If it's badly optimized, no beast of a computer will do. You can still run it, but you won't be enjoying it. If it's optimized right, then the listed specs won't matter too much.

Just look into a site like craigslist, 660's are super cheap(and very common) and will run it no problem.
