Same thing happened with my attemts in seizing Romania and Afghan... I either have legendary bad luck or... The game hates commies.
BTW: 10/10 name and avatar combination.
BTW: So on what countries CAN I declare war without ♥♥♥♥ hitting the fan?
Remember, if you want to go to war without the axis or allies getting involved you have to do it early. The soviet union is an unstoppable monster. Go to war with the allies and axis at once and it wont make a difference. Just make sure you have defenses. A ton of 20 width infantry reserves with them restricted to just basic infantry equipment do a good job at guarding against naval invasions. You have virtually unlimited manpower and resources. one full line of basic inf equipment will give you all the troops you need. a ton of those for defense and to hold the line. Have a separate division template of infantry with support artillery and engineering companies. When you have a region that actually needs good defense just switch them over. Lots of tanks, SP artillery and motorized for your offensive units.
Why are you worried about the axis. You should be attacking the axis relatively early. When Japan goes to war with china begin justifying war against Japan. When all of their troops are bogged down in china. Attack from the north :) The island can be a pain in the ass but getting them off the mainland basically neutralizes the axis in the east. Germanys never hard as long as they are at war with the allies as well. If you attack japan make sure you are defended on the polish border for when germany comes knocking.
Why dont you just do it the easy way. attack poland immediately then germany bright and early in 36. They won't be able to defend an early assault. Then you can do whatever you want.
In all honesty I'm just not that aggressive and I don't know how good divisions should look lika and that is why I just use the default ones whilst adding more support to them (and heavy'/ medium tanks to the tank one).
As you can see I have japan and half the world is commie so commies rock
And how should a good infantry and tank division look like?
AS for tanks. 4 mobile infantry, two self propelled artillery, and three tanks make a great panzer division. You really only need a handful of tanks to get by. You can get the job done with 4 divisions but ultimately go for 24 so you have a complete army. all you're doing with tanks is breaking through and encircling the enemy. Once you have a ton of them you can add them to your field marshalls and watch them just roll over everything.
Your combat width should be 20. Dont think that by making your divisions huge you're making them better. You'll run into all kinds of problems.
The soviet union is for beginners. You CANNOT LOSE if you just mass produce infantry divisions like i laid out. You can win without tanks just mass producing these infantry. Go to war with the axis and allies at the same time. Go to war with all surrounding nations at the same time and it wont make a differnece. The soviets are unstoppable. If you lose then you just haven't gotten the game mechanics yet. After you win with the soviet union I would try germany. It can be hard at first but once you know how to play them they are even more powerful than the soviets.
Dont forget to swtich to war economy as soon as you can.
