Benelux, Secure iraq, etc. Purpose?

So this is probably an incredibly stupid question, so stupid answers will just get met back with snark.

What is the point of secure iraq and the intervention tree for britain, as far as I can tell the only way to get into those trees is to fascist and boost party popularity for the facist parties in those countries. So are those trees pretty much only used for Ahistorical mode or fascist britain?

1) You don't need to be a specific government type to do those focues
2) Those are meant to allow you to intervene in nations (i.e. those in the Benelux, Scandinavia, Middle East) that are leaning towards more radical parties (such as facist or communist) in order to keep them either neutral, or leaning towards your side. You don't exactly want Iraq or Iran joining the Axis now do you? Where are are you going to get oil from?

I think later you can also boost party support for other factions than your own. So you can boost some other party, then conquer them. Truly heinous.

Remember that it's somewhat difficult to start wars as a democracy, so these focus allow you to bully countries to either get on your side or get DOW

The only parties I can promote are democratic, whats this later?

Some focus allows for boosting of other ideologies. Don't know which one. Ah actually it's ANY of the intervention foci. So you need only one rogue nation, then you can destroy all the others.
