Paratrooper bugged. How to fix them?
After successfully conquering several islands with paratroopers I can't get them to jump anymore. I have air Superiority in ALL regions around the airport I am jumping from and I have jumped several times from this very specific airport already. The weight of my trooper division is 7 and I have 70 transport planes there.

Any ideas?

Are you sure your airport is not maxed out in capacity?
noxmortem Jul 5, 2016 @ 6:34am
Does this matter for paratroopers? I thought airport capacity only matters in terms of repair?

Give it a try. You only need 7 transport planes.

Are they really assigned to the Paradrop order ? Sometimes the order register with "0 Divisions", and you need to reassign them

I made a discussion last week about this, I have the same problem. I landed drops in France and England but after when I started a war with Russia and wanted to fly in 20 divisions behind their lines and I had air sup over every area my guys just sit there and wont move out. I have enough transports, runways not overcrowded so I have no clue why so I am not bothering with airborne now till it gets fixed.

Have you guys deleted all previous orders for that army? The paradrop order from before is still in effect if you don't delete it and they want to fulfill that first (again) before doing the one you actually want them to do.

Like naval invasiones you can't have simultaneous drops nor more then 10 ddivisions at a time.

Is it like naval invasions that you can drop more when you upgrade? I just "sealioned" my way unto Britain with 3 stacks of 12 paratrooper II divisions each. They were only 10 wide each, I guess it doesn't matter for the number of divisions one drops, but it should matter in terms of transports needed.

of course, I moved them to a new area and as always i cancel all previous orders but they still do not go. Im having same problems with naval invasion now, I want to invade sweden from Germany after i click what troops i want to go, have the transports, wait 70 days. I noticed that he wasnt going after clicking green check mark. Tooltip says everything is fine but then withing a split second I see a 30% in that tooltip then it goes away. I managed to pause the game and saw what i said. It seems my ships only had 30% control of the sea there but my when i click my navy there it shows green all there. I have 12 ships the zone, 0 enemy. I have 130% naval supremacy and 30% air when i click on my fleet there and tooptip over the straight. I have no clue what is going on. I tried 3 different landing zones and still no go!

well you can call me a dummy, I never realized that I wasnt at war with Sweden which I could have swore I was and thus is the reason my troops would not move to their landing zone. I still have no clue why the air drops will not work though

A few things I can say are not the problem:
  • I did delete the army several times and did reassign them
  • Beeing over the maximum of supportable aircrafts does not >directly< affect paratroopers (see below)
  • I had enough airplanes
  • I had air superiority (see below)

It looks like having air superiority does not mean you have "enough" air superiority. In case your paradrop battle command is alternating between red and green check the different tooltips in unit as well as air mode. One of them shows a tooltip of the quality of your air superiority. This level of quality seems to be affected not only by the number of planes and even if the enemy has 0 planes in the region it is possible you can not jump because the following things DO affect the quality of air superiority A LOT and can block a paradrop command - it is just super hidden in tooltips of the air mode.

  • Range: The distance from the airport to the furthest airport does decrease the quality of your air superiority. Usually it is pointed out as a modifier like: -XY% your airplanes can not cover all regions. Don't confuse this with the range of regions the interface allows you to select target regions - it actually has little to do with that interface.
  • Logistics Support: If you have too little logistics support on the airport this affects the quality of your air superiority. A LOT. Having too little logistics at the air port reduced the quality of my air superiority by -99% and this was likely the reason the paradrop was never executed. The interface is very bad at telling you this as it does not tell you this at the tooltip of your battle plan or the air port, but only in air mode on the air superiority tooltip.

Therefore it is very likely not a bug but everything worked as intented but it was just not easy to see from the interface what was happening. I have still no idea why I suddenly was unable to jump after several successful jumps - likely because the range of the new region was larger then the previous regions and in the passed time the air base had used up more logistics and suddenly the modifier increased to -99%.

Same here i was succesfull to conquer some island but suddenly icoulnd paratroops anymore. After a restart it worked again... So it seems to be a bug.

Green men can't jump.

I had this problem after division experience dropped from regular to green after some template editting. After brief exercise session my troops relearned how to fall from flying planes once again.

Is that what it is ? That's great to know.

I imagine the scene :

"Damn! HQ sent us a pair of binoculars each so we can do better recon ! There's no way I can jump with that thing around my neck !"

I imagine it more like: "What is a parachute? What is this backpack supposed to do? Why am I on this plane?! What do you mean with JUMP? Do you see how high we are?!"
