how do i load troops on ships

You don't, you just move from one friendly port to another. Or you start in a friendly port and set up a naval invasion. The transport ships needed to do either are just taken from your pool.

Oh my god. Oh my god.... Oh my god. This is one of the stuff they really ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up interface-wise. Triggerhippy: Thank you so much for easing up my life, I was using naval invasion even for friendly port movements which was a pain in the ass.

yeah, the part where you have to tell them "go to port" and then from that port "go to other port" and then from there "go where i want you" rather than "go where i want you *troops get on boat at appropriate point*" is kind of annoying too.
though i suspect it's to prevent "dumb transports blunder through entire enemy battle fleet on the way from A to B" type issues.
