Hearts of Iron 4 won't launch

Just got the game and finshed dowloading it. I pressed play and it said "prepareing to start Heart of Iron 4" then it closed and the game said "running" then stop and said nothing. I have tried reinstalling and verifying game cache, nothing works. Solution?

So far the only work around is to go into your C drive, program files, steam, steamapps, common, and launching the hoi4.exe manually.

When I try and open that It says "C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\d3dx9_43.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error. Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support. Error status 0x000012f." And it still doesn't lanuch the game.

Screw it! I can't find out what the hell is wrong with it so I'll just refund it until devs or me get this thing sorted. Sucks too, I was really looking forward to this game. Anyone is free to keep posting solutions if they like.

Re-downloaded the game expecting it to be fixed. But run into the same problem. Looked everywhere but looks like I am the only one with this problem. Kind of begging here, so anyone have a solution and don't say verify game or reinstalling it because I've tried those.

I had the same problem for a while and found a solution that works for me, this is how i did it:
1.Log in to paradox via their website
2.Link my steam with paradox
3.Make sure steam is not launched
4.Go to games and press play for HOI 4
5.Steam will launch along with HOI 4

I'm not sure if this works for everyone but it worked for me

Probably too late for you, but just in case someone with the same problem stumbles upon this thread:

Error message: d3dx9_41.dll (or similar) is missing.
Solution: install this: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109

This fix can also be required even when this error message is not shown by Windows (this particularly seems to happen in Win8). Check for d3dx9_41.dll and d3dx9_43.dll in your c:\windows\system32\ directory. The symptom is that the Launcher lists no DLCs or Mods, and if you hit Play the game does not start. Can often be the case after installing the game on a new machine or after a Windows re-install.

Whoops forgot I had this up but I fixed the problem. Don't really know what it was but the game works great and I'm having a lot of fun with it.

halofan759 just wrote that he/she doesn't remember. You could try what I posted before. If that doesn't work feel tree to open a new thread. Your problem quite possibly is another one.

Its the same problum. Tryed ur fix but dont know if I installed it right. Game still dont start. Even linked my steam to paradox a bit ago and still wont launch. Ive done everything he said he tried in the begining.

most of the time is because you have to uninstall and install again your Graphics card drivers. it worked for me
