Production of units?
first of let me say i am a die hard fan of all previous versions of HOI from the first through to the 3rd edition and have had no problems previously.

What i am struggling to come to terms with is the production of units in this the 4th edition, i just cant get my head around HOW TO PRODUCE a unit and see it appear on the map when finished???

Any help would be greatly apprecitaed just cant get my head around it, i have watched all the video's and read hints and tips but still struggle in this edition.

There's an icon looking like a tank with a down arrow. Click that.
You then select a Division template (say "Infantry") and click train.

Pretty sure it's covered in the in-game tutorial.

Edit : Each Division requires both manpower and "stuff" (Rifles, tanks...) You produce those in the Production tab

make a front line click the round thing next to location and then click the front line if thats what your asking

You also need to give them a deployment zone. It's not like previous ones when you can deploy your armies wherever you wish if they're produced. You have to choose a deployment zone as well in order for them to deploy on the map.

Units also fully deploy, if they have a State selected when they finally hit max training - though as mentioned you can deploy soldiers before they fully complete their training.

Ah! now that is a piece of what i am missing, so your saying once completed they will not appear on map UNTIL i set a deployment region? is that what you mean?
Pippin123 Jun 29, 2016 @ 3:52pm
Yes, unless you select a region, they won't deploy. You also get a warning "Troop ready to deploy" on top of the screen.

Note that troop will only deploy automatically when fully trained and fully equiped, but you can force them to deploy manually when they have reached 20% training (they'll be Green recruits, though)

Once you have selected a deployment region, you can also pre-select a battleplan so they'll join directly the frontline and get ready

Also important: they will not deploy automatically until they get to 100% training. However, their maximum training is always equal to their maximum equipment. So if your infantry division has everything it needs except it is short of artillery, it will never automatically deploy until that artillery need is filled. You can manually force these units to deploy with buttons on the interface, but they will be weakened compared to if they had their full complement of equipment.

You also cannot force a unit to deploy until it is at least 20% trained (which means it will need at least 20% equipment as well).

Thankyou so much, now that is how they should have explained it if they bothered to make a manual i know they have done the short video's but nothing can replace a good concise printed manual, they should employ you to do the manual as that has been the clearest explanation by far.

What i said above also applies to your explanation, maybe they should contact certain people on these forums and ask you guys to write up a sort of manual and i would go as far to say maybe payment of some kind to you both if you collaborated on a manul together and submit to paradox.

just a thought once again much appreciated to all the guys who chipped in with some CLEAR explanation.

Cheers! :)
