Puppet or take?
I'm playing as Argentine League (Fascist Argentina) and just won my war against Uruguay. What are the pros and cons of puppeting and taking the state, resepctively?

The puppet is good in that you can request troops from them. So you don't get the non-core manpower penalty. Also they get to keep their navy.

Uruguay - take. Make someone bigger a puppet.

Puppetting makes them your loyal servants which can act as a buffer between you and your future enemies. You can take divisions from them for your own control if you cant wait for expedeitionary requests and I'm not sure aboutt this but maybe they give you trade agreements for free (at least its happened once where I did't have to pay CI for a trade to them. Annexing will give you the resources and factories obviously.

Its about manpower and I am not afraid say manpower only.

You can get all resources from puppet for free by trade (it not cost civ factories jsut ask what you want) but they keep their industry and build their own armies with their own manpower that you can control - whcih cna comes hanfy if you cant afford build mroe troops of your own. If you have enough manpower of you own you may want rather to take over industry and improve your capacity.

SO somehow it depend on country you play for.

Oh and small but amybe improtant point - more conutnries, more actions, more various movement and fights - more lags late game, I prefer annex most just becuase of this.

It sucks that this is a legitimate consideration in strategy... The mid and late game lag that seems to render it unplayable for a fair few folk.

Puppet: Your puppet can raise a full-sized military while you only get 10% manpower from non-core provinces. You also can trade for your puppet's resources without using a civilian factory to do so (free for you).
Annex: Less manpower, you get the resources directly, you get the factories.

I don't think the choices really matter if you're only playing through WW2 but if you want to play WWIII then I think puppets are generally more useful since you can trade for their resources for free and they can fully tap into the manpower of their provinces and build a useful army.

Someone said it was wise to annex small countries and puppet large ones. I'm probably going to invade Brazil in a few years. Should I then puppet them if I win?

Yes because they have a good Potential to be really Strong beside you.
Annexing smaler Nations but Puppeting Big ones. Compared to you of course. ^^

Yeah, I'd annex smaller nations, particularly those that are factory dense. Puppet the bigger ones generally. Might annex one or two bigger nations if they're factory and resource dense.

If youre in South America I would just annex Brazil and puppet the smaller countries or take all of the Americas for your own.
