2. do you have mods installed and activated when you start the game?
3. did you change any of the game files in the default folders of the game?
if any of the above is true, your version will not match that of the default game.
Solutions
1. remove the -debug tag via the steam properties
2. disable your mods you are running.
3. verify or re-install the game.
the game should be:
Launcher(left lower corner) f680.
The game should be: 1.0.1 f680.
If for what ever reason you dont have the 1.0.1 f680 version, something is different on your game install.
To activate the debug mode you need to change the properties of HoI4 launch options and add -debug to the console line.
But enableling the debug mode will defently mean you cannot join multiplayer matches.
so to un-able the debug mode, we just remove the -debug from the launch options in steam properties.
Then we click the launcher, and click on the mod tab.
You can have mods listed in the list there. you cannot have any of them active. so make sure none of the mods have a green checkmark there.
If you have everything correctly(EG no debugger, no mods active).
your game should boot up in a 1.0.1 f680 version number and you should be able to join(or host) a multiplayer game with other people who have the 1.0.1 f680 build for HoI4.
IF how-ever after you dis-abled all mods, and made sure the debugger is not active. still have a different version number. something is changed/wrong in your game files.
And the only thing that i know of that could fix that, is to use the steam un-installer and remove the game(delete local files).
Close steam down.
and go to your documents folder. you will find a paradox folder, with inside it a Hearts of Iron 4 folder.
You manually need to delete that Hearts of Iron 4 folder from your documents.
you can then restart steam, redownload the game, and start it up(again make sure no mods are active).
