What is drift defense?

This probably sounds dumb, and I googled it and didn't find anything but what does drift defense do? I am playing as the US and a few national focus things under the monroe doctrine increase my drift defense from certain countries. Thanks for any help!

i presume it has something to do with your ruling party, making it harder for AI countries to flip you from whatever you are to something else. so facist to commie and so on

Interesting you can make enemy countries change governments? I would guess that would just be to allow them to ally with you, or is there anymore reason to force another country to change government?

You can boost party popularity, so for example you can make Germany communist, however, they have a national spirit called "Bitter Loser" which gives them drift defense, meaning that it will take longer to convert them to communist than if they didn't have it. You can then stage a coup to have germany erupt in a civil war, and you can send them lend lease or volunteers, and if they win then germany is now communist

It fits into this thread, so i post my question here: What does the Increase relations 15% guy do? I do not see any changes in relations with any nation when having that minister, so it isn't the obvious. But, then, what does he do?

You can go to the diplomacy screen of any other nation and choose to improve relations with them for political power. I imagine that you will gain more relations for the same amount of PP or spend less PP to get the same relationship change
