How do I beat Russia as Germany
So I've started a couple of campaigns and then decided it was time to try out Germany. Conquering CZ, Poland, France etc. was a piece of cake. Except for Norway which put up an annoyingly stout resistance on the other hand I didn't put much effort into it...
By Fall of 1940 I got drawn into a war with the USSR. Now I'm slowly advancing on Moscow. My armies are gaining ground, but I can't push through the Russian front lines and encircle them. Any advice on how to gain another vitory for se Faserland?

Declare war on Lithuania and go around their army.

Hehe, I'm playing as Russia and can't beat Germany! But weirdly Germany waited until 1942 to Attack, and I'm having a hell of a time defending land while Turkey joins axis. I have about 240 divisions on the Europe front, but for some reason my unlimited man power isn't draining the Reich's power.

Germany has a pretty large population, so they can fight for a while, try to go around their army and not through it.

You could also build high level forts, a level 10 fort can stop an army with only 1 division.

Use armor or motorizied to push a hole 1-2 provencies wide and encircle parts of their army.

When I invaded them I trapped like 57 divisions in the area where Lativa and Luthina were.

The best way that I've found to defeat the Soviets is to prepare for a slog. Use medium/heavy armor divisions to punch holes through their lines adn to create encirclements. Prepare for a lot of micro creating breakthroughs and destroying pockets. The Soviets absorbed somewhere in the neighborhood of 13M casualties before enough victory points were captured the time I was able to subdue them.

Just go around them. AI cannot handle flanking maneuvers, you can trap their whole army between Polish ground and Moscow.

Trapped = No supply = eventual defeat.

Also help Japan in China, call them in against SU, they start assaulting from the west, gg.

Encircle them within static frontlines and let them starve, places like the baltic states especially with only a water border and the coast. Especially when they are on the retreat with quick tank manuevers to punch through gaps in the defensive line and stall movement, entire huge stacks of men will die to attrition in winter cut off from supplies, then keep chewing them like that piece by piece taking the territory once they vacate it. Think of it like defeating the ottomans in EU4, the objective is to dance around them and worm them into the most vunerable position rather than a head on confrontation which THEY want.

If you have better quality equipment (expensive and well kitted divisions as well as better tech), it'll be harder for them to storm you, than you to storm their potentially double sized stacks wasting supplies. Sit on rivers and run rings around them, recon is important for knowing your territory.

As others have stated the key is encirclement. Use your panzers to cut through enemy lines and use pincer movements to create a circle around a large number of enemy divisions. Remember to have your infantry follow in behind the panzers to protect your new lines. Also, attack weak spots where you can hit a province from multiple angles and preferably into open plains with no river crossings.

If you prepared for it you should have good air support and that can help a lot as well.

Just attack. Works every time for me.

No need no air support.

Just tons of light tanks to grab ground. Lame? Yeah...Works? Yeah...

What I did to beat the Soviets was produce massive amounts of medium tanks, and give all of my infantry divisions anti-tank guns. Also make sure that you have enough supply.

Supply is nr 1 thing. Once war has lasted long enough, Soviets will have huge problems with supply and you can steamroll them even as a Luxembourg.
its all about the armor have 50 division of panthers and tigers with mec's and lots of mobil artilery, and logistics and maint company and watch russia melt. its possiblle to start producing these tanks around 39 with research buffs.but all total u want about 200 units to hit russia on regualr difficulty.

You win by encircling and destroying divisions.

Don´t have motorized, panzers, air support and paradrops behind the lines? Tough luck. Retstart in 1936 and do things right.

I found self propelled artillery to be particularly efficient against Russia - high soft attack and shouldnt face too much that can pierce it. It will stress your tungsten though.
