Look down the list and you will see 3 types of factory
- Civilian
- Military
- Naval
Depending on what you need/want you click the corosponding factory,
and click on the land/region you want to add the type of factory.
There are some limitations, as in the max amount per area's (increases with pop, techs, focus and/or events) which depend on your countries state and being etc.
then you have a cilil setting, that decided that #% of your factories needs to be civil.
If you go over that % you lose all your building power.
So keep in mind that your civil factories build your upgrades(max 15civil facotries per project).
Your civil factory number needs to be #% of the country(depending on your politics).
If you run out of Civil factories you can no longer build anything anymore, untill you change the #% of civil factories needed. or untill you lose what is bottlenecking you. or untill you capture more land with more civil factories.
Now also keep in mind that you will need to have civil factories for trade. so use them wisely.
Military and Naval building have less restrictions are basicly are only limited by the #% you need to have civil, and how much a area can carry.
For an example, say you have 10 civilian factories , 4 military ones and 1 dock.
With 10 civilian factories you can build infrastructure ,other civilian factories, military factories et ctr.
With 4 military factories you can have up to 4 lines of different stuff. Say ,1 equipment,1 supplies,1 trucks and 1 artillery. Or you can throw all 4 factories on 1 line producing military equipment, which would be wiser.
Same with docks, docks can produce only ships.
Then go to the production screen to assign idle military factories and shipyards to production lines. Click on one of the types at the top and choose what you want to build from the list to start a new line. Alternatively you can click on an existing line and give it new item to produce.
You can allocate more military factories or ship yards to particullar lines by filling up more boxes. Greyed out ones are for automatically assigning any factories that become available in the future to that line. Extra factories and resources are assigned in top to bottom order.
I know how to build supply lines and assign existing factories to produce but I dont know how to assign existing factories to build other factories.
I went on the menu, clicked where I wanted to build new military factories then went back on the production screen where it shows whats being built but there's no progress on my factories since I need assign them.
Sorry if am being retarded
maybe thee's a video that shows how to do this?
Also they auto assign, kinda.
Civil factories build everything for you.
So you need civil factories to make military/naval factories.
They go down a que line.
So if your civil is busy repairing, they wont build new factories.
If there is no que, and still no progress, it simply means you have no civil factories free.
and you will need to stop some trade deals to free up civil factories, change the politics to lower the #% of industry needed for civil goods.
Since they are also used in trade it is possible to run short. So, at the start of the game you should be building lots of civilian factories.
You can only assign military facotries on the production screen after they have finished construction of course. Without enough civilian factories to bulid those military factories then production will suffer.
