How To Get Trotsky in Your USSR

So I've seen a lot of people looking around for Trotsky, or are too afraid to take "The Great Purge" because they think they'll miss him.

BUT! There is an easy solution. I was playing very cautious on my USSR playthrough with the focusses, because I didn't want to miss my chance. But I've determined that you must take "The Great Purge" in order to get Trostky. Once those events start firing, I always chose the option that said "A Civil War will happen later." This seems a little daunting, but assuming you picked Trotsky and not Stalin, the war is actually pretty pathetic. It was over in less than a month in my playthough.

It is probably better to get your politcal points squared away first, because Trotsky starts to kill that income. Do note that some leader WILL still die due to Trotsky, some of them good (like Kalinin and the NU buff), but others, like Rokossovsky and Tukchaevsky, will survive and provide Revolutionary generalship to the armies of the Fourth International!

okay i did the purge right away when it finished a few months later the civil war happened but i didnt have a choice of who to choose sides and trotsky wasnt the leader of the opposition force of stalin i won the war but still no trotsky

Ok, so first, gotta make sure you're still communist.

Second, I finished out the collectivist side of Stalin's constituation, and I've heard this apparentyl has some effect. Choosing anti-capitalist diplomacy may also effect it.

Third, Trotsky must not have been killed by the NKVD agent. Either he survives, or you do this beforehand.

Fourth, you must always choose the option not to kill anyone. It's usually like "These people would never do something like that," etc. And when hovered over says it will cause a civil war. You can get different outcomes depending on who and what you purge.

well if your talking about triggering the fourth international event i did do that the part im confused is not the triggering of the civil war but how you can actually replace stalin
