Defeating Turkey as Iran?

Hello,

So the past two playthrough's as Iran I have managed to destroy Afghanistan, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Oman with fairly little losses however Turkey is a completely different challenge and I cannot seem to defeat them without Soviet support however I want to defeat Turkey on my own.

What are some general tips to defeating them?

My armies tend to be still largely composed of Infantry with only a few tank and motorized divisions. I tend to have air superiority but only during the first stages of the war after awhile I am unable to keep up with production and it turns into a stalemate in the air.

I tend to have fairly modernized equipment especially for my airforce etc.

Hmmm I have actually never used them so pretty much drop them behind enemy lines. Hmm i will try that :)

Well I managed to defeat Turkey this time after a very grueling war... Those mountains kill....

I set up a nice defensive line of fortresses and anti-air systems along the border and declared war and then held the line. The Turks charged and were cut down. I then proceeded to assault their weakened territories and then repeated it again.

War ended with me taking 200,000 casaulties and Turkey taking 900,000

How the hell did you get enough civs?
I am struggling, I can only do it with cheats...
