Can you see the naval invasion plan? The next button.
For an "air invasion" (or however it's called) you need:
- Paratroopers in the airport (they will move there if not, but that will take time, of course).
- Transports who can reach.
- Air superiority in all the regions between the airport and the area you want to deploy your paratroopers.
- Pray to land in an area without enemy units, or you will see the Market Garden Revival.
I know about air invasions, I used them to mop up the mediterranean.
Im talking about transport, I dont feel I should have to march my men from Rome to Saudia Arabia to commence an airborne attack.
In Hearts of Iron 3 you could transport any unit (GIven its weight limit was lower than your planes carry weight) to any location within it's range.
This feature seems to be completely missing. Perhaps more DLC to rape our pockets along with the low res models just to make my soldiers look Italian :l
And you think they would let you overfly?
In any case, how do you transport tanks and other heavy equipment in WW2 planes?
In WW2 planes weren't used for moving divisions around. They transported individuals, paratroopers and their light equipment.
It will only be disgusting if it's true that they're doing something so unrealistic.
The US - the richest nation in the world - used ships not planes to transport it's troops around the world because it's more efficient and because you can't transport anything but the lightest equipment in planes. They even transported planes by ship rather than fly them...
But come on, divisions of men with artillery pieces could easily be transported by air. YOU CANT EVEN TRANSPORT YOUR OWN PARATROOPERS BY AIR.
Also having a generic transport plane without any upgrades or tech to improve them is also dumb, you could unlock bigger and bigger planes to carry troops to start, then troops and equipment, then even bigger ones for troops equipment and light vehicles.
