What does the number on the battle icon represent?
I am talking about the little battle icon on the map that you can click on to observe the way a particular battle is panning out, its red when you are losing or green when you are winning.

What does the number on that icon represent?

Balance of power

How close the battle is to the end. When you reach 100 in green the battle ends, so you want this number as high as possible. Everything effects this number. Division strength, numbers, tactics, preperation, bonuses, air superiority,....

The Number is completion to the battle descion. 100 being the end. if its Green then you will win when it hits 100, if its red you will lose when it hits 100. I'm not sure, but if it hits 0 its a draw.

Somehow some of my battles end even tho it's not 100 like 60 or 40 etc. so I'm not sure that's that (I'm not sure it's balance of power either but...)

The above answers are incorrect. The number represents how close you are to winning or losing.

When it reaches 100 you win. If it reaches 0 you lose. This is the case if you are attacking or defend. Closer to 100 is always good for you. The color represents in which direction the battle is currently moving. Green means it's moving toward 100 (and you winning), yellow means it's currently a draw, and red means it's moving toward 0.

interesting. So for example, if you had an attack going and its green 64 it's like you have 64% of the balance of power in that particular battle?

From my observation, if it hits 100, attacker win, if it hits 0, defender win, if it goes away before reaching one or the other, someone retreated.
Green mean the battle is going your way or that of your allie, red mean its going that of the enemies. Yellow is when its uncertain but that never seems to remain so for long.

Edit: Ninjaed while writting.

No, it means you are 64% of the way towards winning, and it is trending upward. If you watch a green battle, it will slowly go to 65, 66, 68, 69. Watch a red battle, and it will slowly go down. When it reaches 0 your units stop attacking (if on the attack) because they all have 0 organization. If it reaches 0 when your defending, all your units will retreat.

The game is comparing the current battle statistics (attack/defense/breakthrough/air support/ground support/organization/number of divisions in reserve, etc.) and extrapolating out what will happen in the future, assuming nothing changes.

Often though, things do change. One side will have a close air support join the battle and do a bunch of damage to the enemy divisions. Or maybe a general pulls a great tactic that counters the enemy tactic which gives them an edge for a day and that's enough to tip the balance back in their favor. or reinforcements join the fight. Etc. etc.

100 is always *you* win, not just attacker. It applies when you are defending too. If someone attacks your divisions and it gets to 100%, the enemy is repulsed.
