How to defend borders ?
I'm playing as italy, I've just taken France over, I've set my army to garrison on all the ocean sided states thinking it's a defense line.. But UK troops just arrive on shore and my troops do nothing about? I let the game ran and nope they kept coming but my soldiers still did nothing..

They are selected to be all in garrison, it is on the states they are garrison about in.. Is this not how this works? Is there another way to do this? To set it up so this army just stays along the coast and defends it.

Cheers.

Garrison duty focuses your troops on defending ports and cities. If you wish to form a perimiter, draw a defensive line and assign division to it.

Use the "fallback line" option. They don't need to actually fall back... Just use it as a defensive line where there's no border.

Thanks so much, I did the same as OP then manually stopped raids, but this is way better!

Well if you use garrison and the British keep landing and can't capture any ports or cities they will just starve out.

You can theoretically wreck a lot of armies that way, I guess the A.I. needs tweaking because it keeps sending their soldiers in to die.
