In the first phase of World War II in Europe, Germany sought to avoid a long war. Germany's strategy was to defeat its opponents in a series of short campaigns. Germany quickly overran much of Europe and was victorious for more than two years by relying on a new military tactic called the "Blitzkrieg" (lightning war)
Blitzkrieg is a tactic. An example of a strategy is the plan to avoid a long war by quickly defeating it's enemies. The tactic used to fufill that goal was the Blitzkrieg tactic which involved punching through a single weak spot in the enemies line allowing other units to follow such as tanks, artillery, etc. which would allow them to encircle enemies or rush past the front lines deep into the enemy country.
No need to be an @ss about it because you are wrong. How you plan to win the war is a strategy. How you go about that is through tactics like the Blitzkreig.
A strategy is made then tactics are relied to complete said strategy. Germany wanted to win the war quickly (strategy). They used Blitzkrieg tactics to complete that strategy.
LOL Germany staged a radio relay assault and pinned it on Poland.
And you're trolling.
Blitzkrieg is a military doctrine in which you overwhelm and enemy with speed and force.
It has nothing to do with when you do it or the relationship with politics.
Blitzkrieg is a strategy not a tactic. You obviously haven't got a clue what you are talking about.
The traditional meaning of blitzkrieg is that of German tactical and operational methodology in the first half of the Second World War, that is often hailed as a new method of warfare. The word, meaning "lightning war", in its strategic sense describes a series of quick and decisive short battles to deliver a knockout blow to an enemy state before it could fully mobilize
A series and combination forms a STRATEGY which makes the Blitzkrieg a strategy.
At least we Germans understand a military strategy when saying Blitzkrieg.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_military_strategies_and_concepts
( check it out, blitzkrieg is listed too ).
We would never really use BLITZKRIEG for tactics, even if you yankees would do so. When ti comes to tactics we prefer to call it " Bewegungskrieg ".
Check it out.
https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blitzkrieg
The German wikipedia site says clearly that it is a strategy. And since BLITZKRIEG is a German word coming from Germany, I give a ♥♥♥♥ what you think it is. I use the original description as I learnt to know it living in Germany for many years and as German sources describe it.
"Der Blitzkrieg ist eine militärische Strategie, die eine Eskalation des Konfliktes zu einem totalen Krieg verhindern soll und dies über einen schnellen operativen Sieg anstrebt. "
Go to hell with your post-war terminology.
@Glob: You can't even spell " BLITZKRIEG ". I think you should queue in the last line before you are trying to tell me what Blitzkrieg actually is or refers to. You made me laugh actually ))
... what?
An excellent summary of this whole thread.
BTW peeps you are getting confused because the concepts of Blitzkrieg can be applied strategically, operationally and tactically. The Wehrmacht used Blitzkrieg concepts at an operational and tactical level to support overall German war strategy and the ideological commitments of Nazism.
So everyone is right and wrong at the same time! Yay! Isn't actual history fun? :P
The germans conceived it so that means the rest of the world is wrong. How about you stop cherry picking sources that support your opinion which are so few and far between.
Strategy is your overal plan to win a war. Tactics are how you put that strategy to use. Germany wanted to finish their wars quickly. How did they do this? They used blitzkreig. A tactic designed to punch holes through enemy lines with brute force and speed allowing them to surround the enemy. Thus fufilling their overall strategy of winning their wars quickly. What is so hard to understand about that?
Seriously go google Blitzkreig. The first page of results refer to it as a tactic.
I can't believe you are using wikipedia as your main source considering it isn't even a secondary source...
Anyways, have fun only looking at german textbooks and schooling which are obviously never wrong.
What does spelling have to do with anything? O no, I got the I and E backwards! My argument is ruined! You have no argument left so you are resorting to insults and grammar call outs.
Not really.
I told you that in Germany we don't call the tactical version of it Blitzkrieg. To center out that it is something different...
...Gosh..I hate to discuss about German terminology with non-natives. It's always a pain in the arse.
@Kaustek: I am not attacking spelling errorS. This entire discussion is about the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ blitzkrieg, but he is not able to even write blitzkrieg right. It's like discussing for 2 hours about boxing but not being able to write boxing correct. Get it ? Propbably not, since you seem to be the retarded version of this globe guy.
What a bunch of fools.
Yet you can't figure out how to use planes when the tutorial sppon feeds you in the information and highlights the buttons you need to push. Don't think you can call us fools.
You get around to googling blitzkrieg yet so you can see how every single article but your wikipedia one calls it a tactic.... Because it is.
I have never said anything about historical accuracy in relation to declarations of war and attacking countries in this GAME.
You have obviously not read my wikipedia article. The German version called it a strategy, what is your problem? Do you even read this ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ links?
Gosh, not too hard is it? You seem to be an autist or something like this.
I am done with you nutheads.
