Noob Question - Amphibious Assault? Howwwww
So my first go around, I decided to play as the USA. All was fine and dandy and then it hit me, I don't know how to transport troops overseas nor do I know how to land them on any beaches. I have tried googling this to no avail. Can anyone explain how to do amphibious landings and how to transport troops overseas?

Step 1, plan a naval invasion from one of your bases, then pick a destination near a port on the other end, because until you capture one, your invasion will be without supplies.

Step 2, make sure the sea zones it passes through are secured by your ships, or the invasion fleet will refuse to set sail.

Step 3, let them plan. This will take X days (Hover over the execute button above the army generals portrait)

Keep in mind. Depending on the size of your port, your convoys and such, you might not be able to bring over a huge force in one go. But once you've made landfall on the other side and have a port, you can tell your other troops to move over normally (Move them to a port, THEN do a move order to the destination port)

You are amazing, thank you!

And of course - Use marine divisions to invade, because they stand a minimal chance of winning a battle if your invasion happens to be landing on a province that's already defending by the enemy. Naval forts can be a bad time for you.

Btw, I believe I read on the wiki, or perhaps in game, that if you want your navy to support with shore bombardment, then you have to set the navy units in the area on "hold" and then they will give fire support automatically. I think now that I read this in the pop up for the "hold" order for navy units.

I have done everything by the book and yet my invasion force just sits there. I gave them time to prepare and had control of the sea lanes still they will not move. I parked an entire fleet off the coast and still they will not move. I don't know what else to do.

Untill you research the better transport tech there is a cap of 10 units per naval invasion, you can however plan several invasions at the same time and activate the next one once the first has landed.
And make sure that the divisions are actually assigned to the planning arrow.

Also, when viewing your fleet, on the top left are a bunch of buttons as far as what actions the fleet is performing. Click Convoy Escort or something and then click on the sea sector you want them to escort in.

Just parking the fleet in the sector does nothing for covering amphibious convoys.

you have to cover up the invasion path with naval or radar
read the tooltip over the units "start" button. it shows which seazones need detections.

patrol a fleet around those seazones. you can assign one fleet to 3 seazones which are connected to each other.

Good advice (as someone who invaded all those little japanse islands):

the size of your fleet is a base for preperation time. a larger fleet needs more prep time than a smaller one. an army of 50 divisions need around 120-180 days. a army of 10 divions needs around 30 days. Most harbors arent that well defended. so going in with a small army is better.
Just push he invasion and get your main force

Assigning different invasion from seaports which are close to your target. you can assign only 1 invasion per homebase. Assign a commander to them. they can get a trait which lowers preperation time.

Preparation timer runs when you have assigned the invasion mission. Even when your invasion army needs to run to that harbor, the prep timer still counts to full
