When does the Spanish Civil War even fire?

So I'm playing as Italy and I'm really keen to get my talons stuck into the Spanish Civil War because I want the Baleric Islands, however its August 30, 1936 and so far nothing has happened... I'm supporting the facists and they hav 46 percent in the party popularity meter and still nothing is going on... whats the deal?

It's semi-random, usually mid-ish '36.

Did you made a "coup" or just supported the faschists? It worked for me every time perfectly fine, I didnt even boost the faschist popularity.

Hmm, Im bit of a beginner, I thought its necessary for it to happen.

Other times I've played its just happened, this time round it hasn't... won't a coup just replace the government though or will the civil war actually happen?

It's not necessary to start a coup though that can be fun. The event fires at somepoint during '36 almost guaranteed. Just wait a little bit OP and it'll happen! :)
