Best beginner faction?

I just got this game and am keen to get into it, I have done a bit of work as the UK in a campaign and have the basics under control but was wondering if there was a nice smallish country which is suitable for beginners. I prefer the idea of starting small and not having to worry about naval stuff too much (want to really master air/land gameplay first)

I would say Italy, continue playing as Italy after the tutorial is over.

Had thought of USA but too much need for naval ♥♥♥♥ for me to be comfortable atm and the UK having done a bit I am not confident of being able to manage its far flung colonies while still new to the game. Italy seems like a good option, cheers

Italy is a good starter option but you will still want to keep a decent navy in the Med at least. Otherwise you may run into trouble in N. Africa and allied subs will wreak havok on your supply routes, not to mention any UK surface fleets sailing about. If you decide to let your navy go to the wayside you would do well to have a sizeable naval bomber force stationed in Italy and N. Africa.

I dunno why everyone says Italy. I alway sstart with a non-UK commonwealth country so you can learn to the non-combat side of things without having to fight a giant war at the same time.

If you play as Canada you can pretty much sit back, build a huge army and tech up while you give your naval units experience by sub-hunting hunting and your air units experience by defending britain/bombing the continent. You can then choose to enter the land war when you feel like it.

Though I prefer Australia just cuz you're in a little more danger.

I suggest Soviet union - mainly becuase you can safely ignore rest of the world and ignore naval aspect of the game (including all convoying, invasions and so on)- you are also self-sufficient in most resources and industry. Otherwise any minor nto draged to hot war early do well too.

I also dont understand why most people suggest Italy - imho it is challenging country for beginners with need to cover lot of areas and all aspects of game with forces divided in Africa and Europe and Mid sea for control between (and overall Axis progress is very depenedant on you). As big pros tho, there is lot of Italy guides, including in-game tutorial and wiki.
