what do you mean by dont do anything? Do you mean your at war and they are not helping? or are you expecting them to just bow to your will? Because allies are not satallites or puppets, they are independent and do thier own thing. Also check to see if they are actually part of the war or not, or have some way to get to the fighting.

Are they asking to send you Expiditiary forces? they are likley trying to add thier troops to yours so they can help fight, but dont have a way or the ability to get tot he fighting. Just be careful with accepting the expiditiary forces, as it may comprimise their ability to fight in the war, as they give up all control of thier forces. They will reinforce and supply them, but you contol them.
They are with me in the war against other nations. They come to the frontline, and just sit there until they get attacked and die. They don't even retreat just die. They don't support and they don't attack.

That sounds like the allies you have are too weak with their units, as they are getting stack wiped when attacked. They wont engage because they dont have a chance to win if they do, so they sit on the defensive, but are too weak to hold the line. Who do you have allied?

italy notoriously was always completely useless in every hearts of iron game. i thik they wrote them to be useless
My allies where the US and Britain and the other minor allied nations. They didn't even attack minor axis divisions, not even empty provinces

The empty province thing is a flaw in the AI in general, as my own divisions will decide to encircle an empty province and never walk in unless i order them. If the US cant get a good foothold in Europe, they wont really attack, and Britain never does have a very strong army, they rely a large ammount on their navy.

The minor nations are pocket change, likely to never do anything of importance.
Germany was on 94% surrender. The AI was advancing quite okayish so far but then like died. I only played 2 games in HoI4 so far and the same thing always happens, even when I am axis. Axis just always wins because of missing allied AI it seems

Well, its not just the Ai, Axis could well have won had they not made mistakes and had a leader, in Germany's case, that was so much of a control freak and afraid for his life that he demanded to be part of ever decision and wouldnt let the thought they could lose battles enter his mind.

The Axis AIs dont have inflated egos, though i know a few friends of mine who play that have the same issue. so, yeah, Axis does have an advangate and if your playing as them, press it. It also helps if you have historical focus on, as that drives the AI down a somewhat more historical path, but they will take advanage of something and not be completely historical, like declaring war on france early, if they see the chance. I had that happen.

Sounds like a user error.. In my play right now, aligned with axis and clearing africa from french and uk presence, nationalist spain took gibraltar soon after I landed near benghazi and started clearing to the south while uk landed in their back yard north of portugal.. I split my stack going towards suez.. soon after i see a string of japanese transports in the med and they landed near me and backed my push east, while balls deep pushing towards raj and fighting the US. Besides getting handfuls of divisions from smaller nations..

So.. results vary I guess, just like late nite diet informationals and pinus pumps
User error? If i modded the AI for sure.

When I attacked the AI allies nearby reacted and helped me with assault though

I had much the same expeiance. Playing as Germany, it was quite a shock to see a Japanese Carrier Group in the Baltic sea, to bad they got wiped out when the British came steaming through for the umpteenth time

but they did land the divisions they were trying to, and they actually were one of the reasons i broke the Russian front wide open. But I have also seen the inactivity of AI in that very game, the Japanese forces sat in Danzig for about three months before actualy doing anything, and Italy's troops were worthless until they gave them to my command. The Ai could use some refinement, but its not bad overall, and Paradox always does tweek things to make the game better in the long run.
I really hope they add the missing contents from previous HoI games and fix the AI. And I hope the modders will do so if Paradox won't.

some of the stuff they removed from this HOI may not come back, like the supply system that was there. That was a nightmare to try and maintain
also, threat is now Global Tension, which makes a little more sense than individual threat levels.
Im just peeved that i ended up with a bug that wont let me produce V2s. i have the tech, but they just wont show up in my production line. i have no clue why.
