It's way to easy to flip ideologies
And ideology is something pretty hard to change, unless you don't put much stock into them, 8ut the people of WW2 and the time of this game, did. Not even from a realism standpoint is it to easy, its a8usa8le, you can Ally with Nazi Germany as Poland 8y turning facist 8y some lame game contrivance.
All you have to do is get 150 political influence, put a facist demagogue, or a Communist revolutionary, and 8am, in a year, or less, you will have a decision to make, civil war, or just let it happen. Civil war is for those who didn't really want to change, 8ut guess what, it makes you the party anyways, and if you let it happen, the entirety of your nation just "flips" to the ideology that took hold, with all the splendors that come with it.

Americans would fight 8efore facism, or communism replaced their government. Nazi Germany would secret police the ♥♥♥♥ out of the movement and it'd 8e done, so would the USSR.

Either it should take far longer for the drift to happen, or it should mean war in more cases than not. War is costly, and it would 8e a good deterent against a8using this system. The choice to referendum should not 8e the 8est one, with next to no concequences. It should carry a lot of downsides as you just avoided war 8y allowing an entire other government to take control of the nation. The people who still hold the original ideals should, and realistically would re8el. You would have sa8otuer issues, issues with manpower, and military defections. People would simply not comply.

I love the idea of working hard and long to make America red 8efore the war, so you can come in on the comintern's side, and 8e imperialistic with the America's, that sounds like a fun save, 8ut its just FAR to easy to do at the moment.

I do agree that it was VERY easy to change ideologies, and to some degree, it should be. But this IS a game that has strived for more open ended and sandboxy options to players than its predecessors. If a Polish player wants to try turn facist to appease Germany, then why stop them? The player doesnt play as the head of state, or political leader, nor a military leader. Some kind of supernatural overtaking of the nation, and perhaps this is just another of its powers.

If someone DOES want to change ideology, the game shouldnt make it last years, or else theyll miss out on the fun of the rest of the game. PDS puts gameplay first and realism second, as in other aspects of this game

It can take up till the end of the World War to change some countries. I don't think it's too fast at all.

I am not saying that it should 8e impossi8le, just really difficult, on the player, and the people of the nation. Re8ellion, civil war, and generally 8ad stuff should 8e more common

Yeh, i turned Poland communist VERY quickly.. with only 2% starting popularity. I happened even before Germany demanded the sudetenland (historically 1937?).

Once again, this is a gameplay over realism thing. As a player, you do get to choose if you want civil war or not. If you want to really roleplay a country, then choose the civil war, otherwise skip it and dont lose equipment and manpower that you may need for an upcoming war

I do, I faught in the Decem8er war (the Communist revolt in America 1937 hehe) I like it 8ecause it gives you an early start on military experience, so you can cre8 some really nice units. I just think it can 8e a 8alance issue, allowing to flip allegiances 8etween 3 different alliances so easily. Its a8usa8le.

Why so many '8's..?

It can be abusable, but i would hope respectable players to not do so without good cause. I myself was considering returning my newly democratic Italy to facism after it got kind of boring.. And when Germany and Spain had taken much of Europe and were threatening me heavily
