not enough disk space error

i'm having a major problem. i tried to install the game before i left for work so i could play when i get home. however, every single time i've tried installing the game, steam tells me that there isn't enough disk space despite the fact i have at least enough for this game 30 times over. i've heard that uninstalling steam fixes it, but i don't want to do that because i'll lose everything i currently have on here, and i don't want to do that unless i know for certain it'll fix this

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe you have too many games installed. I'm no expert as I mainly play PS4 but hipefully that might help

thanks, but that's not the problem. to make sure i had enough room, i uninstalled shogun 2, which was nearly ten times the size of HOI4. plus, i just reinstalled two other games, both larger than this one, so i don't think that's the problem

Do you install the game on a different drive/partition than Steam? If yes, maybe your Steam partition is full and it can't download the install files?

i don't even know what that means. as far as i know it's all installed to the same place

Have you tried retarting your PC? It might seem dumb, but it works lik magic for a lot of problems.

It may sound stupid, but try to close steam and run it as administrator. Right click steam shortcut, run as administrator.

i have same problom but did not work even with administration run also its still say not enoug space need help

Press Install and then go to Download menu and press Pause before message error pop-up and then press Resume
