Game seems quite easy?

I've watched some Youtubers play the game, on Youtube itself and on Twitch, and I am a bit surprised that they all easily conquer huge parts of Europe and Africa quickly, no matter what they play as. I've seen France, Italy and Japan (which of course conquers vast parts of Asia). On regular difficulty, some historic AI, some not.

Meanwhile the AI seems to struggle to get much done (e.g. Germany, Japan, which both should get big gains in the beginning of the war).

So, did anyone see a game where the player didn't easily steamroll the AI?

Well Benjamin said he had ALOT of problems beating the Ai when he had it on "Easy" mode, but when he started his LP on normal diffculty it seemed easier. I contribute Benjamin's success of conquering France, was due to France slitting it's own throat to spite the Germans. And several other lets play were close to being "Lost" but other factors in the game saved them. You have to be careful judging streamers, alot of them have had this game for awhile now, they know how to play the game and "min-max". Streamers are typically very GOOD players and don't represent the experince of the average player. Now that being said, don't expect this game to be like Hoi3 where you can leave a coast completely undefended because the Ai is braindead when it comes to naval invasions. If you do this in Hoi4 you can expect the USA/UK to be crawling up your ass with all the tenacity of Pineapple.

It doesn't really matter whether someone has experience in older HOIs, does it? Even new players will learn and while they may struggle the first (few) game(s), in the end they will also just stomp all over the AI.

No to mention that the Youtubers aren't playing that well, they are (understandably, for entertainment purposes) rushing through the game, making many mistakes and missing a lot of stuff, they shouldn't win (as France, as Italy), much less as soundly as they are.

So the question is, is the AI as bad as it seems? Which is why I made this thread, I only watched a few games and they may have been outliers, so I wonder if any of you have seen different games.

If you have experience with HoI 3 and feel HoI 4 is much easier, then that calls for a different answer than if you don't. In no way is this a reflection on your skills or the validity of your question.

As an example, some might feel that HoI 3 is way too easy after viewing an Albania world conquest let's play (marco antonio did that one).

Yall also have to remember, HOI3 was a cakewalk when it was released (Well I couldnt play it when it was released cause of crashing, but after the crashing was fixed). It wasnt until blackice that things got more challanging and much of the time that was because the ai cheated with events and got IC and divisions which the player would not get.

Pretty much this, most people smash the heck out of the AI in HoI 1, 2, and 3, as well as EU4, strellus, Vic2, any total war game, any decisive campaign title, and..... um risk? You get the point.... AI is often easy to beat in all games, which is why everyone should be playing competitive matches with other people.
