Crash to Desktop at "Creating Checksum"
The other day I bought HoI IV, and every single time I've tried to play, it has crashed to desktop when it reached the "Creating Checksum" multiple times in my attempts to play the game and to be quite honest I'm getting a bit irritated that this is happening.

Now, I've had a look through to see for solutions but so far, the most suggested one, which is to uninstall the game and delete the HoI IV folder in my /Documents/Paradox Interactive/ and then reinstall the game, I've tried this a few times and that hasn't worked, I've also tried deleting the HoI IV folder on it's own and that hasn't worked either, and at this point I'm not even sure what I can do.

I don't have any mods, it's completely vanilla, it's v1.1.0 and the code (Or whatever it is called) in the brackets next to it is 5d33

Well it's hard to say what the actual problem is, looks like you gave it a fair shot trying to fix it.
And i can't really think of anything else besides maybe update your drivers?

I would suggest you head over to paradoxplaza make an account and then open a ticket or thread to get actual help. Yes i know its complicated but that the way pdx choses to do direct customer support.

Oh and it's called the Checksum ;)
NOTE:
NOT only deleting ...\Documents\Paradox Interactive\Hearts of Iron IV
You MUST delete too ...Program Files\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV (this is essential, and not deleting it should be making impossible to solve your problem)
So both subfolders Hearts of Iron IV should be deleted.

So steps are as follows:
1.- Be sure no mods suscribed, by going to workshop and verifying
2.- Uninstall game
3.- Manually delete BOTH folders (...\Documents\... and ...\Program Files\...)
4.- Reinstall game

And as a last intent, you could try these steps:

1.- Changing to some BETA version of HoI4
2.- Disabling temporally your antivirus/antispyware software
3.- Executing the game not from Steam, so go to HiO4 folder right click the game exe file and select 'execute as admin'

If this fails...

4.- Try reinstalling Microsoft .NET Framework
5.- Check if some 3rd party software it's running (try disabling such software if present)

Just curiosity, What are the specs of your computer? OS? available free space? Wich is the folder where Steam its installed (default one)? And games are installed in default folder?
