Vanishing Manpower?
So I was playing a game as Axis Italy and World War 2 started. At the start of the war I had 350k recuitable manpower, and I've taken the south-east quarter of France and now my manpower droped to zero (I'm not recuiting anyone). I sustained 380k casualties thus far. Is there a way to "get them back" without advancing conscription law?

Wait for your recruitable manpower to build up(Hover over the manpower and it tells you how much you receive in a time frame) or disband divisions. Other options would be to reduce the severity of your occupation(Choose "Gentlest" on occupied territories) or just conquer(Though non-core states hardly give you any). Other than that I'd say the only thing you can do is advance your conscription laws. Try to use armor and field hospitals too for your attacking force too as well as some decent air support and you should be alright manpower wise(Infantry just suck manpower when attacking for the most part).

Just my opinion on it(Italy is a great nation to play too, love it).

Oooooh, I didn't know picking "harhest" for carcking down on rebels means I cracked down on ALL my territory with the -100% debuff, I thought it just meant territory I've taken over from the enemy. Boy is that a stupid decision by Paradox. Thanks for the tips, my Empire has connected in Africa and I'm on the doorstep of Paris :)

Okay, I figured out why my manpower went down the drain, they were being used as reinforcements for my current army.

Yea, I agree that is definitely a weird decision by Paradox. Lots of weird decisions like the non-core manpower percentage, it is totally ridiculous especially once you have a state for a great deal of time. There are plenty of people who would join foreign or not, the amount of Soviet citizens who joined the Wehrmacht is pretty astounding imo.

Yea, I've had that happen to me before.Think I have a good buffer and then all of a sudden I make a few bad decisions and I lose a good deal of men.

yeah, when you play any other nation besides soviet union and china you have to keep a close eye on your manpower.

my advice is use more motorized and tanks then infantry to save on manpower plus that speed is awe inspiering.as well use first aid tents to save manpower and ALWAYS FULLY EQUIP YOUR TROOPS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i cannot stress this enough any gun is better then no gun, that means if all you do is as SU for example is build guns, guns, guns and nothing else even if your guys need it you will still do ok.

I've found that outside of the Onion and China, you need to either plan pincer movements and/or build manpower efficient divisions. Heck, even the Soviets can run low of you don't pay attention. China though... You'd have to burn through something ungodly like 150 million manpower.
