Rant population
My problems with hoi4

Population and manpower make no sense.if a country like Germans losses 10 million men in war the gun country should experience low birth rate due to a huge male population dying
In war I never really understood why the add pop to the game if they have no real effect .

The after effect of war is non existent .after Ww2 Europe was in shambles cities destroyed men gone or in prison huge immigration but in hoi4 these things are non existent for example vic2 I finally finish your war with Russia and Austria you feel relived but now you have a poor economy and low birth rate due to the long and bloody war do you feel these things in hoi4 No .

Workforce’s

If you are playing the US and your are strategic bonding German industries the company only effort they get is destroyed factory but why no low workforce I mean in rl
The German workforce was becoming low due to the war but once again these efforts are not there

Hoi4 is a great game but if fail to portray war and the after effect of war correctly and game is just a contest never end war sim I hope you see what I am

It's a WW2 game, which deals with 1936 - 1945 (1950 at the absolute latest), it does not deal with the post war era and all things which'd come with it.

Yes you can play on after those points but there's little reason to / you have not actually finished the war yet.

To be fair, a low male population doesn't affect birth rate in the slightest as long as you don't have monogamous relationships. Just pretend that all those German guys not in the fight shacking up with 19 additional women to keep the population up.

It does simulate a lowered workforce when you get to the higher conscription levels since men are dying emptying the numbers of available conscripts and new people being conscripted. A big prolonged war is going to drain your manpower more and thus you'll need to raise conscription levels to maintain your army which reduces your factory outputs and construction speeds to simulate workers being conscripted. However this game is focused on the war itself, not the after effects.

The population mechanic is there primarily to serve as a counter for your manpower pool, mathematically it's kind of hard to get 5% of your population available as manpower if there is no population count to pull that 5% from.

there is no negative pop modify in this game and there simulated low work force in terms of bombing . If a states is being bombed there should a negative pop mod but there is non and is my problem this game doesn’t simulate war correctly

Men joining your manpower pool are boys that turn 18/16/15 (whatever you want to think). How would 10 million men dying in 1940 affect the amount of boys being born in 1925? So like Fr3ddi3 said, the effect just does not show during the time the game spans.

Because in real life there was still one man with one woman. As stated above, one guy can impregnate as many women as he has the endurance to bed.

There will never be a negative population modifier for bombing civilians, because you can't bomb civilians. It is listed in one of the pinned threads. Everyone you kill in this game is always a soldier. There are lots of ways this game doesn't simulate war correctly (like being able to instantaneously send orders to units that are half a world away), and this is one of them.

I am
It talking about bombing but if German loses 10 million men it birth rate should stagnat or decline
Torrens Mar 17, 2019 @ 10:07am
Birth rates do not matter in a time span 10 years. A child born at the beginning of the war will never be part of manpower pool. Vic 2 time span is massive compared to Hoi4.

Hoi 4 time spand is 10 years. Vic 2 time span is 100 years. Vic 2 time spand is 10 times bigger. 5 generations can fit inside time span of 100 years. Zero generations can fit inside time span of 10 years. Hoi 4 does not care about the time after WW2. Hoi 4 is WW2 game.
