need help with foreign influence on politics [Millenium Dawn]
So, i'm playing a game as Sahrawi and i really don't get this foreign influence on politics, it really makes no sense at all (IMO), can anyone tell me if i'm tripping or am i right to think about it like this:

I started the game and with much struggle, i've managed to:
- build a decent industry (for the size of my civilian pop)
- incurred in a manageable IMF debt with low interest
- very high network and infrastructure
- insanely high GDP per capita (10x the USA's)
- great services to the population (welfare, health, education, etc..)
- 0% pop tax (and 20% corp tax)
- no corruption
- booming economy

However, Algeria is my neighbour and has 40% influence on me, that makes it so my western outlook (which is the ruling party) is always going down, while the emerging outlook goes up, and that (IMO) makes no sense at all, like my govt is so freaking efficient and good, i've made a miracle, i've turned Sahrawi into "Wakanda" but the people is like "nope, those algerian liberals, with their 50% tax rate, famished people and crippling debt, they're onto something, yup, they know where it's at and we should throw this paradise bs through the window and start doing what they're doing"

like, i understand Sahrawi isn't a relevant country (and technically it's not even a country in this game) but, this makes no sense because i've played enough to know that this would happen if i had chosen a different country..

You can reduce foreign influence in the decisions tab. It will take you 150 political power to reduce Algeria's influence 5% each time you run it since it is the country with the most influence on you. I usually do it before reducing corruption since it can take a lot of political power to remove all foreign influence and corruption gives you political power. Once you remove foreign influence you may become a minor power or regional power and that gives you more resistance from further attacks on influence.

I get what you are referring to now, you are influenced by your neighbor's outlook. You can see it somewhere but I forget where. It's a passive effect. the only thing you can do is make your neighbor's outlook the same as yours by interfering in their politics. You may have several neighbors with the same outlook as Algeria and it stacks up.

I'm not sure if becoming a greater power will reduce the effects though. It might.

yeees that's it, i'll do that, hopefully the emerging drift will be much less
Right, now, how do I boost my influence with another nation? Preferably fast and with large results
