Go to production tab and look at the Create Variant window for you plane. The tag should be in the upper center, next to the plane's icon.
Now open your air wing menu and click on the icon of the wing in question. The tag in in the lower window. The air wing will only reinforce with planes of the same type and tag.
I don't know if there is an easier way to manage the tags, but in my experience it is a potentially useful tool with an absolutely terrible interface.
thanks
The first weapon in the design determines what type of plane it is. So if you have a plane with an AA cannon first and an AT cannon second, it will be considered a fighter, while if you swap them so the AT cannon is first and the AA second, it will be CAS.
