Feedback Gaming literally told me to unsub LOL

Just wanted to share this little highlight of my day :)

TLDR: I gave Feeback ♥♥♥♥ for using exploits, he told me unsub

Feedback put out a video yesterday of something that was a quick Ethiopian play-through, and about 5 min in, he starts exploiting. No one really cares, but the entire comment section is giving him ♥♥♥♥ about it. (For context, the title of the video is "Ethiopia, A REAL CHALLENGE?")

I decide i wanted to write a longer comment on why i feel Feedback represents a group of players that want more to focus on the story telling, and the completion of the focus trees mainly, and how I can understand why people would exploit (because HOI4 can be micro intensive, and people just want to get on with it). To me, this is actually important, because PDX is making a single game for a large player base.

Anyways, I also mentioned my alternative view and playstyle of the game, but Feedback cant take any heat apparently, and he replied asking me, "Please unsub. This content isnt for you." Absolutely hilarious

Just curious feedback... who is the content for then? People abuse exploits like you? Or people who will just stay quiet and not call you out on it?

Yeah, im not sure what you mean. I left a comment last night, woke up to his reply, found it funny and wanted to share. But i guess Im really on a "crusade" or something.. let me link the video and you can find it. Im not sure how to upload phone screenshots here

No offensive to Feedback over here, but I would like to make an example. I think the HOI4 community is torn between people who like the WW2 strategy aspect, and those who want to completely focus on alt hist trees with wacky stories to tell.

When feedback resorts to using exploits, not that I blame him, it tells me what kind of player he is. I see this everywhere; the running HOI4 joke that "no one understands navy", spamming ugly 10 width meta divisions...

What this is, is people trying to enjoy the focus tree part and story part, while pretty much getting as little invested into the strategy mechanics like production etc, because ultimately these things get in the way, and sometimes can out right be ignored, like the Navy. Let's be honest; that's the real reason "no one understands" it.

I'm not mad at these people, and I don't blame them. I understand that a lot of the micro in hoi4 is tedious. But I think acknowledging our diversity as a Hoi4 player base is important, especially considering PDX has to try and balance pleasing us all. For me, I meet the game half way to have a WW2 simulation experience, and I play the game slow, going mostly 2-3x speed, sometimes spending 20+ hours on single runs. Obviously, this is a lot different then spending 3 hours on a quick alt hist Ethiopian run, where I go 5x speed an exploit just to get it done faster and easier. I personally have 0 interest in alt hist focus trees or focus trees in general. (I could easily see a world without them). But that's just me

IMHO, is it even considered a challenge playing a nation, when you play just exploit the minor imbalances in the game? Not only is the AI horribly easy to defeat already, but it also isn't capable of employing meta tactics. Even world conquests become easy.

You enjoy playing the game differently than him or other people do? That's cool but when you say that "acknowledging our diversity as a Hoi4 player base is important" you're basically demanding of him to play the game differently to suit your own way of doing things.

He's a youtuber, who's not getting paid for doing what he does (not directly by you or me at least) and he can do whatever the hell he wants.

If you want to see another approach to the game the answer is rather obvious:
- either go to some youtuber whose style you enjoy;
- or create your own content, publish a video and then go through every single comment to see who likes what you're doing and who is just there to mess with you.

Both options are exactly what he suggested you to do, namely "please unsub, this isn't the content for you".


On a positive note, once more FeedBack checks and answers every single comment to his videos.

Does this even logically compute? Acknowledging the existence of different play styles is actually me saying, you need to play the game like I do? Like... what?

Ive never in my life gotten a reply from the creator asking me to unsub, and that to me is absolutely hilarious. I mentioned repeatedly I understand and dont blame him for his decision making, but he coudlnt take the criticism i did have. Theres nothing more to, im just sharing what to me is a funny HOI4 moment.

And also, at what point does being a content creator make you exempt from criticism? Since when was I not allowed to disagree with a decision a content creator makes? It feels like youre being overly defensive of him, because youre making a bunch of assumptions about me as well as the situation. Do you know how I felt about Feedback before hand? Do you assume that now I hate feedback all together because I criticized a single decision he made? At what point did I say, "Feedback, youre an idiot who plays the game wrong, and I think everyone should stop watching your videos."? Enlighten me.

If Feedback cant take a soft ball criticism about exploiting, maybe he shouldnt be a content creator. Easily goes both ways. But thats NOT the claim im making here, and thats not what I want from him. Im just sharing a funny moment, but you are purposefully blowing things out of proportion.

You went to a youtuber who, for years now, has made a channel out of finding ways to exploit the game and push every little detail to the limit in an effort to min-max the game (for no other reason other than he likes doing what he does) and whined that he should "acknowledge that different playstyles exist" (and yes, that's the equivalent of saying "you're playing this way but you should try to play this other way").

I am not defending him or saying you cannot say what you said. You are free to make whatever criticism you want to make. What I'm saying is that doing what you did is as idiotic as going to a baseball match and complaining that "football is a better game" because you like football more than baseball.

He did not insult you or told to get TFO, he said that the content he's producing is clearly not geared toward you and the way you want to play the game so you should stop following someone who's not going to change the way he plays the game to appease your self-righteusness.

And no, since you cant read ill explain again that it was actually me claiming we, as whole community, should acknowledge the different play-styles, and the inherent implications this has for PDX making a game for a diverse player base. dude lol you wrote some wall of text rant on a "fun exploit to get a hard cheevo" video, what do you expect?

i'm sure there are plenty of hoi4 streamers that do a more story-focused approach

Uhhh... The title of the video is "Ethiopia, A Real Challenge?" sponsored by Paradox to show off the new stuff.... what part about that says, "fun exploit to get hard cheevo" video?

If anything, the phrase, "A Real Challenge" would imply anything BUT exploiting. lol

If you think his videos are not your thing, why not just don't watch them?

If you think exploiting the game mechanics are not your thing, why not just don't do it?
