Spain civil war (when playing Italy)

I`m just wondering about the civil war in spain after the latest update. This war always seemed to go my way playing as Italy. But this week i lost it for the first time. Together with Germany we defended the fascist side against Russias communism.

What is your experience from this war? Is it doable to win. Could it go ether way? I did sent 2 volunteers and provided fascist Spain with outdated equipment from the start. But did not go all in to win the war. Gained a little bit of territory with my 2 tank divisions. But the front collapsed in the north after a long time in which not much seemed to happen.

The Nationalist side used to stomp 100% of the time awhile back until paradox released an update. Now it seems only republican spain wins, since no matter how much equipment and support you give them they just buckle on a front line and end up being encircled while they're guarding another front. It's both funny and sad to watch Nationalist spain go from 56+ divisions to about 12 in a single month...

As I heard Republican side is defender, so they get + War Support, while Nationalists get - War support.

The nationalists still win most of the time in my games unless I actively interfere with Soviet volunteer units. And even with Soviet volunteers, they still win frequently as the front line collapses in one section while I'm busy micromanaging my units somewhere else..

I`ve kinda had the same experience. Nationalist spain gets encircled and loses whole divisions. When it got bad i saw 4 encircled provinces not far from each other with unknown number of divisions.

I`m alright with losing the war of Spain now and then as long as it is not to predictable which side wins or loses. I`m eager to try again in my next game to see if this made a difference for the axis during the game. Currentlly still in late 1938 do
