non-aligned independent india

ok so i wanna play as India or at the start of the game british raj
however i dont want to go democratic and the fascist and communist paths suck.
couse you cant get rid of marginalised Muslims national spirit.
i wanna stay as non-aligned with lord linlithgow leading a independent India
is it possible or will i insta switch to democratic once i take quit india focus
i heard you can get Independence as british raj by 1941 if your active in the war.
allso on a side note can i go fascist and communist with quit India focus path?

honestly my view of playing as india in this game is that you should play as UK for the start of the game.

if you don't do that and UK decides to screw india you kinda wasted your time, and if the UK is trying to do imperial federation they physically have to give india more independence so its kinda a win-win, but as far as i know its rare af the ai will do any of that.

just checked both trees. it has to be post october 1943 but you can just click a button to make india independant with a focus from uk.

this shouldn't actually change your government type, so the game plan actually should be to avoid all india forward bloc AND swaraj, because these reduce democratic as well as non aligned, but indian national congress just adds a demo advisor you can ignore.

forget autonomy and go for two nation theory, then swap back to uk until you can pop the 1943 focus.

while playing as UK just develop the teeth out of india




if you're opposed to swapping nations and are roleplaying a bit, just act like you're influencing the uk politics within the game.

also i think if communist UK decides to de-colonise then you can have non aligned free india too, but lord linlithgow definitely retires because it says it in a focus, and i think india also has to buy out becoming free where the confederation focus is as good as them saying

"ok bye"

that said, if the uk gets all the decolonisation focuses done they get 500k free mp, if you're staying allied that's pretty strong.

i decided to see what happened with communist path myself and when you pop the focus to retire linlithgow they seem to flip democratic.

however i was also democratic at the time so it's possible it flips to whatever alignment you are when you pop the focus that changes it from raj to india.

so perhaps if you de-colonise while taking the king's party as UK they'll become non aligned, although idk if i can be bothered to test this.

tbh all you have to do is sit as britain developing the raj for 6 months while you wait for edward viii to pop. its actually not so much effort at all!

however be prepared to face or release pakistan.
