Lost 60 Divisions Thanks to This
I was making a new tank division and accidently made over my old Standard Infantry Division, so when I click unpause all divisions using the old Standard Infantry Division template DISAPPEAR.

I got the game right when I click Unpause but I dont have nearly enough Experience to revert back to the old template, is there ANYWAY to stop the old divisions disappearing because this should be fixed.

Every time I'm even thinking of making a new template based on an old one, I make sure I select the "duplicate" button.

Learning to play issue, unfortunately.

On a positive, though.....you won't do it again eh :)

EDIT: Too many "i"'s!!

That's great but Houdini just f**king took my entire invasion force and I'd like to not wait till Danzig for a slice of Japanese Pie.

Yeah it sucks, but the game is simply doing what you told it to do by making your Infantry divisions into Armoured divisions.

EDIT: Or whatever your issue is :)

EDIT: I don't think the old divisions should simply disappear, unless you deleted the template too........

You didn't LOSE the divisions, they just switched to become tank divisions. It's possible that they didn't have enough equipment to 'survive' and so were disbanded, but that's the only thing that might've happened.

The only thing I can think of is that they literally had zero strength due to having no equipment and disbanded. You should leave some infantry in your tank divisions, because otherwise they will have pathetically low organisation anyway and won't be able to do anything.

Well, game does do an autosave on the first of each month....

So in time will they return?

No, they're gone. Game thinks they went to extremely low strength so they 'died'. It's what happened is you switch templates too wildly.

How to beat "Bright & Shiny New Item" disase :

1] DUPLICATE that template !, to prevent stupids ;

2] On the duplicate add the new thing(s) and note the costs in XP AND equipment ;

3] While on he Training page, SEE how many divisions would be effected/aflicted/made stupid ;
>{with 100+ divisions, you cannot AFFORD an Empire wide upgrade of INF}<
4] Go to the Logistics page, to find out the equipment you'll now need, and HOW FAST to make enough to kit out 1 upgraded division ;

5] NEVER, not EVER, commit more divisions to an upgrade that what your production can sustain ;

6] The new shiny template is best used IN THE FIELD, and then as a build order ;

7] I'm doing a German run, so I use step-by-step upgrades to pump up divisions :
a] Farmboys (raw recruits, '36 model, 9 INF) ;
b] Mudfoots {Grunt 1} get 2 artillery (7 INF/2 ARTY) ;
c] Soldats (Grunt 2, 3, 4) get support companys ; ... and so on as XP is earned, and spent .

8] As your army grows, and production flows, [ O YEAH, it might seem nit-picky !], but every few days you will AFFORD an upgrade of a unit or 4 ... and when the numbers needed for Anschluss ARE reached; THEN start BUILDING the better templates !!, and backfilling your in-field forces to the new standard ;

9] WHEN JUMPING FROM 20W to 40W division, bite the bullet and spend the 40-50 XP for a FIELD ONLY upgrade; to keep pace with production !!!

The result is being able to nickle-and-dime {in XP} your way to a 40 wide division !

My favorite thing to do in terms of infantry is to make oodles of divisions and set them all to the same template. End of the first war, or even part way through, you jump straight from whatever your division is to the ideal template for 40 width infantry. Meanwhile you will have been making artillery and infantry equipment. If you don't have enough to fill in whatever you've made; whatever. They'll fill in over time. In the meantime they're still acceptable filler. There's no need for a perfect switch over of templates if good enough will do.
