1.5 Cant breakthrough anything
ever since 1.5 I cant seem to break through any kind of defense without paradrops. I just dont understand what I need to do to push pack entrenched units. Any help?

Well I keep hearing that line arty is garbage now so I am just running full infantry but that still doesnt work.

full infantry is absolute trash, you need artillery. Artillery only a got a minor nerf.

use 14/4's and you should be using tanks to push anyway.

you no longer need to use line artillery, support artillery will do just fine

However, you shouldn't try to break through anything using infantry, they have little to no breakthrough stat. You should build a couple tank divisions instead or let the enemy wear themselves thin first.

Yeah I have tried to let me attack me to wear them out but the AI just sits there and doesnt do anthing. As for tanks unless you are playing a major nation thats pretty hard to get going.

if they aren't attacking you you have too many troops on the line, pull back some of them so they will attack.

40 width tank divisions, 4 motorized battalions and the rest medium tanks.

It really depends on when you are at war and what country you are playing. The artillery is very weak at 1936-1937 and you can't build enough at this time. Until you get more planning and soft attack. At 1938, you can build 16 inftantry/2 Art which very good for holding the line. If you are germany, you will need mobile inf and tanks to break lines. I like to build 10-20 width cavalry and truck with engineering support for crossing bad terrain like rivers, hills, and mountains. German generals are good with engineering. About 30-40 division of cavarly and trucks. Of course, you can build 40 width inf/art or mobile inf/tanks but you will have to micromanage each division.

I would keep my attacking divisions back and click the staff planning command before putting them on the line. You want max planning and not getting your attack divisions into a fight before launching a breakthough.

I give more advice. You watch the AI and you can see it move 16-18 divisions in area where there little fighting and/or your divisions are weaker. Yes, the AI is planning a break though there. I would move my good tank/cav/inf divsions further down where the AI weaken its line and do a breathough to surrond that large AI divisions. You are basically doing the same thing as AI except you have more view of the entire battle front. Thats the AI improvements in the last patches. The move to launch breakthoughs in weak defense line areas.

I had a grand time yesterday as Soviet - had built up lv2\3 forts on the german border and when they attacked they slowly bled to death due to manpower. Then i just gobbled up europe. Nomnom - Pure infantry mass assault so stronk :P

But generally yeah, you want tank (breakthrough) to push - especially heavily entrenched locations. Just don't use tanks in mouintains...they get terrible maluses and the attrition will RIP so many (unless you xp 100% reliablity and or maintenance company)

You can still use artillery to good effect usually what people run is 4 arty and 14 inf (40 width) or half that if 20 width. I've had good experience with 6/11 myself, tough it gets kinda painful on your industry pumping out that much artillery.

You are right Hellfire. The AI masses inf to launch breakthoughs in areas it thinks are weak divisions. It doesn't avoid forts except for the 6-10 level forts. The trick is to weaken or destroy divisions after they move or attack. Before 1.5 patch, the AI just move fast to launch small unsuccessful attacks and would do them without enough breakthough. Now after 1.5, the AI railroad divisions and builds up slowly now. I know Art is good, but you can't build art, planes, tanks and ships at the same time. I usually go far lighter inf divisions and mass mobile inf divisions for breakthough.

im having a similar problem with a template of 7inf 2 arty i cant break fast to poland also i have the light tanks (bt-7 9 divisions) and in this moment and i list 330 k of soldiers and poland 124 the doctrine is great battle plan and the last there on these tree is organized defense

update:
I test the same doctrine with infantry 10 +arty support and i conquer poland fast
