Hearts of Iron IV
Can someone please explain to me how to reduce resistance to occupation please.
I have selected secret police when i entered the occupied territories, for all my territory i took ( i play as germany). And little box pops out and it says that i have resistance to occupation in some states but i don't know how to reduce it. And if you can explain to me how to deal with this problem when im taking new countries. Thank you.

im curious, how do you load out the light tanks for occupation? mp's obviously. I like the idea of some armored tanks telling the poles and french not today with your resistence

As their stats don't matter, make them as cheap as possible.
Open the Interwar light tank chassis, put the weapon on "Heavy machine gun" and save (change the tag if you want them to not be used in combat division)

This cost 1 army XP and the light tank will cost 2.4IC

Be aware, that even this cheap light tank is still way more costly than standard guns for garrison
Hi, its me again, im doing something wrong apparently. I did what i was told with the MP in the cavalry but im still using secret police which is eating up my manpower and now i have manpower problem im losing it and i don't know how to get it back expect to chose service by requirement which will lower my industry and such. Here's a Youtube video that cover the details of how resistance and compliance works
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lnEY4xEKoqE

In short, the most important point is that your garrison need to be 100% fulfilled.
If your garrison is lacking manpower or equipment, resistance will raise higher.
Which will make the need of manpower and equipment grows.
Basically throwing you in a death spiral where you can't fill your garrison and each day resistance is growing because of it and require more manpower/equipment.

Adding MP can save you manpower (if your cavalry template is at least 6w, the bigger the better)
However, you need to have enough support equipment to equip them.
If you are in a deficit of support equipment, adding MP just made the situation worse.

If you are lacking equipment/manpower, disband some of your combat divisions.
The goal is to fulfill the garrison, once it's done, resistance just come down (a bit) freing some of that equipment/manpower.

If you have allies, you can ask them for manpower for your garrisons as well (they may not accept).

You automatically take manpower from the countries you occupy, but very little.
The only way to really make use of local manpower is by puppetting the land during a peace deal, then you can use the local manpower more.

The only others things you can do to reduce the resistance are
-Another occupation law that is more strict (it will require more garrisons)
-Increase your stability
-Be at peace
-Use your spy to reduce the resistance
Good advice to use cav with MPs as garrisons. Also, enemy countries will use spies to run "strengthen resistance" operations against you. Leveling up Passive Defense in the intelligence agency helps to stop that. Also, when there is a "hot spot" with lots of resistance, assign a spy to root out resistance there. Also, don't use a higher level of suppression than absolutely necessary. The higher you go with suppression, the slower compliance grows. I go for keeping resistance under 15%. So if resistance in a country is going down towards zero, ease up on them a bit to get more compliance. Yeah, sometimes you will have to write off Poland and Free France and just go with "Brutal Repression" to keep them from blowing up railroads and factories.
