Sudetenland question
Noob here. Playing Germany and trying to get faster at bagging Austria-Sudetenland-Poland and France (right now can consistently do it by Spring 1940 but it seems that's too late to take on Russia, at least when I try it lol). Only the last couple of triesI can't seem to take Sudetenland anymore which always a given in the past. Is this not guaranteed? I can't tell from the focus tree info what is missing and I'm spamming troops faster than earlier games. If the outcome of that even is based on a die roll, what are some of the influencing factors? The only threads I've seen on this subject are old. TIA

If you're playing on historical and don`t mess too much with the actual timeline the Sudetenland will always be surrendered.

Non-historical games tend to not surrender the Sudetenland to Germany, though apparently world tension (low is needed) and relative army / air force strength influence the outcome of the focus.

Demand the Sudetenland actually has several outcomes, from a quiet surrender to Britain and/or France abandoning Czechoslovakia but Czechoslovakia still putting up a fight to Britain and France guaranteeing Czechoslovakia. This is actually one of the most complex focusses, although it's really not that important for Germany.

Btw, invading the USSR in spring 1940 is definitely not too late (in the game, historically it would probably have been quite bad for Germany).

IIRC it's based on world tension. If a bunch of things happen in a row/you act very hostile (like eating the Netherlands in 37) they'll block you.

That's what I thought but apparently that's not so, hence my post. Yes, playing historical, both in initial game setting and in general gameplay/timeline. (Though as I said this time I was pressing for a faster run).

Interesting. In these last two run-throughs I got zilch. Just the popup for finishing the focus but no announcements (e.g., "This is an historic moment for Germany") or any indication of the events you mentioned. And I had upwards of 800 K troops in the field. I did happen to notice that no one was guaranteeing Czechoslovakia, which made it even more surprising.

Glad to hear it, though I was finding it darn near impossible so I figured I would try and give myself an edge. I can see I still have a lot to learn!

Ah yes, that makes sense and I think my accelerated timetable may have prevented there being any cooldown. I'll make sure to watch that this round. Thx
