Third Five Year Plan

Has anyone ever done this path in the new Soviet focus tree?
With all the other important stuff you can/have to do, why would someone ever go down something which gives you more debuffs and just evens it out again later on?

I played a bunch of games as the Soviets by now and never actually tried it out. Am i missing something here? Are there special events firing once you done more of those focuses?

When you finish a major war it instantly jumps to "Restoration and Development" anyway...

The +% consumer goods is worth it for the production bonus.

The other bonus (specially the research bonus) are more than worth it to go down this path.

Some people have even optimize the construction order so much that they can achieve 480-500 factories by June 1941

So from a military production perspective, the Five Year plan part of the tree is more than worth it.

The third 5yp leads to the strongest focuses in the game. First of all, it leads to a ♥♥♥♥ ton of industry bonuses, enabling you to rush tools 5 and dispersed/conc 4. 2nd, there are some CG reductions, so sacraficing like 2/3% cg is 100% worth it. overall. 4th, you get more eff cap and retention which is extremely strong. eff cap is the strongest industry stat in the game, so it's extremely strong combining it with the industry research bonusees. overall, 5yp is overpowered as ♥♥♥♥, so take advantage of it (no point doing it early game though, its good to do it from 38/39

It is a strategic call. Some good bonuses but you sacrifice some other preparation whether that is the focuses after The Agitprop or fixing the airforce or the army...

If you can delay the German attack until 1942 then it is certainly worth getting it in early.

Also, if you play on harder difficulties the bonuses are even more worthwhile (because they offset negatives).
