yup. I just didnt know the game kept track of where the specific factories were that were dedicated to a certain line. I just thought it was a big pool and if you had the numbers to support what you alocated on the production line, you were good. But the game I guess treats it like "Okay we took the factories that make AA. Now you cant do anything until you take them back!".
This is realistic in a sense but also where is there a clear map toggle or something where I can track my factories and what exactly they are supporting?
So the items you have at the top of the queue get assigned factories and resources first, while the ones at the bottom get these assigned last. If factories get bombed and are repairing, those show as red factories in your production nearer the bottom, above any greyed out factories that you don't yet have.
Any items you want to prioritise and always build should be at the top of the queue.
Items where you have a lower priority should be further down the queue.
Note you can add multiple lines for the same item. So if you want to allocate 10 factories to produce small arms always, you can add those at the top of the queue and if you want to use any new or surplus factories to also build small arms, you can add another line for small arms at the bottom and add factories to that, which will be greyed out until you have those factories. You can change priorities by simply dragging the line up or down the queue to where you want it.
Factories can be affected by whether they are your own core factories, from puppets (puppet level affects factories you get), from annexed non-core territory (affected by compliance with LaR) from land you occupied but may or may not get in the peace deal, etc (losing the factories after the peace deal).
