My mods aren't working at all

I'm doing things as usual, sub to mods in the workshop, activate them in the launcher, but when I launch the game, none of the mods I installed works. I just have the vanilla game.

Me too. I don't know why ? I supress the files and I redownald it but it still doesn't work.

paradox's launcher is absolute garbage. Lots of people have been having issues like this for months now, and paradox doesnt seem to care enough to fix it.

Let's purge the paradox staff with Vasily Blokhin.

make sure your mods are in a playset and on - then make sure you have selected the playset underneath the big play button. make sure the mods are up to date / work for other people.

otherwise, the launcher is broken and you need to fix it. sometimes uninstall/reinstall works, but theres always a more nuclear option that will 100% fix your launcher... but first try the above.

The ultra nuclear option (NOTE: THIS WILL UNINSTALL ALL OF YOUR HOI4 MODS AND YOU WILL HAVE TO RESUBSCRIBE TO THEM AGAIN).

In your steam app, click on Steam at the top left of the window and select "Backup and Restore Games". Create a backup for HoI4, then uninstall HoI4. Find the game folder in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\ and delete the Hearts of Iron IV folder if it's there. Then go to Documents\Paradox Interactive and delete the Hearts of Iron IV folder if it's there. Reinstall the game by again going to "Backup and Restore Games", but select Restore Backup this time. This should ensure that when you reinstall the game, it will be as a blank slate.

adding all your mods to a collection before doing this will let you find and redownload easily.

When I start the launcher it just says "An error occured" and no mods are loaded at all. Any Help?

theres been some success with this, but it doesnt seem to work for everyone.

go to Steam\steamapps\common\Hearts of Iron IV\launcher-settings.json and change "gameDataPath": "%USER_DOCUMENTS%/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV", to "gameDataPath": "c:/users/%USERNAME%/documents/Paradox Interactive/Hearts of Iron IV"

this bug has existed for close to a year now and affects a large number of players. paradox doesnt care enough or lacks the talent to fix it

the curious thing is that sometimes it works and most times it does not. What the hell Paradox, your launcher is ruining my sweet expensive gaming expirience. Shame on you until you fix this mess.

yeah its annoying eh? i find it gives errors like 4/5 launches. With the fix above its more like 1/3 for me
