2. No that's a great division, although it might suffer in breakthrough. 1-2 tanks is usually the optimum build for making the most out of your tanks, but having a few divisions with more tanks for breaktrhough is a good idea.
For instance. Maintenance company might seem like a no brainier for tank divisions. If your playing on an easier difficulty or you have created a variant with more reliability, Then maintenance is wasted on it.
Or if your have a tank division They are not going to get as much of a return as an infantry division with a field hospital. And with field hospital its going more so going to be a doctrine things. For instance if your going mass assualt, more of your divisions are going to have field hospital. But even then, it really depends on how your manpower is doing. If you have 10 million men laying around not active. field hospital is not going to be as advantageous.
Recon, is a must have if you have a chance of beating the enemies intel level. However if they are that much better then you, then there is no real point to it.
Engineer company is a must have.
Support artillery, Huge fan of it. Most targets your fighting are soft. support artillery increases soft attack. thus your doing more. So no reason not to take it.
Signal company. if your doing a blitzkrieg its a must have. If your playing trench warfare where the lines are not moving, its not important.
Logistics company. basically allows you to have 30% more units in an area before it runs out of supply.
AA. Why waste a slot on AA when you can win the skies with planes. Now if you cannot win the skies with planes then add AA.
Now for my tank divisions. I like the 15/5 layout 15 tanks and 5 mobile or mech infantry. It puts you at that magic 40 combat width (although soon to not be as important with different terrains supporting different widths). and its generally recon/Arty/Engineer/Signal/Logistics for support.
AA adds piercing so it fills the roles of both preventing CAS damage (that you can get even if you have air superiority) and countering armoured divisions. Granted, for some countries they are not needed.
