Honestly the real question you have to answer is where do you want to start? What's the point of divergence? Did Hitler get stopped in ~1933? Did Stalin never rise to power? Every US election provides a very direct and obvious alt-history path as well.
If you want to go further back, find a historical event and roll with it.
Napoleon gets exiled to America. Or maybe the South wins the civil war. The UK has some crisis and states break away. Literally anything goes with South America/Africa/Most of Asia.
