Any good way to learn the game?
I have never played a Paradox title before recently, when CK3 released it seemed like something i would like due to the RPG elements, so i got it and fell in love, already having over 200ish hours.
I was then checking around to see if their similar titles and i saw that HOI4 is on sale, i was aware that this is more warfare and economy focused and no RPG elements per say but i figured i should give it a go.

The ingame tutorial barely explained anything so that didn't help much, i later watched like 10 tutorial/guide videos and i'm still just as confused. I literally have no idea how to play the game, and the hotkeys confuse me, especially as some aren't mutual to CK3 (For example using - and + instead of 1-5 for time control).

There's seems to be a lot of micromanaging that is required that it's simply overwhelming.

Is there any suggestions you have a complete beginner?

if your looking for tutorials dont look them up look for spesific things take one thing at a time and learn that part first instead of geting a short confusing version thown at you just before another thing is thrown at you. also you can ask fellow players to coop or view your nation so they can see what your doing and help you out *even more useful if you got a mic* I do really hope this helps

Don't really know anyone who plays HOI4 to "tutor" me sadly.

Bitt3rsteel and Scumpy Dog probably do the best videos, so far as easy to follow content, there is a lot of crap out there. Most yourubers seem to think they are a lot more entertaining than they actually are.

Part of the learning experience for this game is crashing and burning, how many hours of actual gameplay do you have?

Play romania, join the axis. It's a relatively easy way to get exposure to most of the important game mechanics. You don't need to rush or anything to be strong for the late game and you don't need to join the fight until the soviets declare on you for not giving up your land. germany will handle most of the heavy lifting you can just help where and when they need it (they often don't need help at all), the eastern front will give you a ton of time to learn division and front line management.

You even have your own miniature sea battle to wage against a russian fleet that is never very strong if you so choose.

If you are in an American time zone and have some way to voice chat, I can show you the ropes, just add if you are interested. Just be warned that I won't be active too much once I am back in uni but I personally don't think it should take longer than a few days to figure out the game, maybe even less. The game is really easy once you figure it out

It's the very first result that comes up during a search so I'm not surpised. Not sure why people keep recommending the top result because it's meaningless.

Anyway - try this. It skips all the rubbish a 4 year old would understand and gets to the point.

Edit to add: wow this one has recieved a lot of views in the past 18 months or so - I guess you may have watched it as well. It only had a few thousand views when I watched it :)

Play the game as Germany a lot. It's the fastest way to learn. You aren't going to learn just from watching tutorials or playing small nations. You need to jump right into the fire as Germany. Just make a lot of fighters and tanks and you should be good.

Agreed on that it works pretty well, probably the fastest way to learn this game.
