Greece keeps going nuts and declaring war on me.
Whenever I play as Turkey, regardless of what path I seem to take, Greece always declares war or me.
Why does this keep happening? It ruins entire runs!
I was recently going a communist route and was preparing for war against the Axis, but then Greece declared war on me and caused me and thus the Comintern to be on the same side as the Axis, messing up the whole game.

This never happens with AI Turkey, so what am I doing that's causing the Greeks to go bananas and going to war with me despite being at war with the Axis???

If Greeks go down the democratic path they will eventually hold a summit with France and UK to declare war on you for the Ionian coast. If they go communist, they will present you with an ultimatum to demilitarize the Dardnelles. If they go fascist they'll try to sway you towards joining the Axis with them. If they remain neutral, they won't interact with you.

So, basically, even if you're minding your own business, even with Historical Focuses on, the Greeks force you to fight alongside the Axis or you get ganged up on by all the Allies, despite Greece being the Aggressor.

Well, that's in no way a very stupid and contrived way to force you into WW2.

Although, I still don't know why this only happens to Player-Turkey and not AI-Turkey.

With historical focus on, Greece will never declare a war since they cannot pick a wargoal focus. I think there may be a mod interfering with your game (unless you're playing vanilla)

No mods, just the DLC.

Oh, and I was wrong - Greece DOES go to war with AI-Turkey. Just alot later, around 1943-4 they start preparing for war. Even when they're both in the same faction.

Paradox needs to adjust Greece's focus tree, because this is just stupid.

What's Greece's political ideology when they go to war? Also are you playing with historical focus on?

Democracy. And I always have Historical Focus on.

Greece almost never goes democracy with historical focus on, this sounds like a bug or an interfering mod

Must be a bug, because I don't use mods.

I have a preset saved with all individual countries behaviour set to "Historical", I think i'll try and use that instead of the general toggle and see if that works.
Because so far i've found Turkey to be pretty much unplayable. Well, at least in the way I want to, anyway.
Megawasp Oct 1, 2021 @ 8:36pm
Nope. Didn't work. Greece became Democratic again and thus will eventually go to war with Turkey.
I swear, I have NO mods. This has to be a bug. This keeps happening over and over and over and over again.

If you can observe, around what year does GRE turn democratic? I'll run a couple of observe games and see what's up

Fairly early, around late 36 to 37.
The problem is that the AI seems to not got the Metaxas route even though i've set their behaviour to "Historical".
Saying that, however, I seem to have gotten lucky in my last game as Greece didn't go Democratic in. Although, I wasn't playing as Turkey in that run, so it din't make any difference. Still, it's progress.
I just need to figure out what I did different in that game to what I did in all my Turkey runs.

I'm going to feel like an idiot if it turns out to be something really minor.
Try doing both types of historicals, the AI isnt ever perfect, you shouldnt have it happening every game tho if settings are good
